Hi all

received my pc a couple of weeks ago and had to send it back because the CPU was faulty, was peed at the time but cannot fault PCS for the speed on the return. They received it on Thursday of last week, and I have it Today.

Just a quick question to all the PC experts. I have two pics below of my core temps etc. They were reallly high when I booted up my pc however within like 2-3mins they went down. How come this happened?

wow that was high but should be ok, i believe it may be that it clocked right up while booting up (loading OS uses a lot of power) and as you are overclocked it would be creating more heat, then your PC loaded and the CPU and all other components were relieved of stress and therefore cooled down

I would be very worried m8(thou I have never checked temps at startup),as they are extremely high, mine dont reach that temp when converting HD video??Phone PCS(after running more temp tests)in case its a one off?

BTW good to see UFC on your desktop is it the latest Jones fight??135

Yeah that was the last main UFC, good line up for the weekend, edgar vs maynard, sonnen vs stan, and aldo vs florian (should be an awesome fight). And since the temps have gone down wozza should I not worry about this? Gonna re-start it and look again later, see if it happens. First time I've turned the pc on since I've had it :)

Any idea why sysfan shows as 0 RPM in first pic and 2008 RPM in second pic on the SpeedFan screen? Also, why is the CPU showing as 128c in both pics in the SpeedFan screen?

well try again first and see what it turns out like, if not check inside the case to see if the CPU cooler is really wobbly, if it is you can tighten it a bit just by doing up the screws although dont do them too tight as to not damage your CPU, it should have a little wobble in it if you push it around lightly

All seems normal now :) (like I said the 128c is a load of rubbish, read online that loads of people have this reading)

was this just after bootup? and that seems fine and dandy to me. im guessing they have dropped even more in temps now to around the 30s, if its idle anyway

Only ever had to send two things back to pcs for rma. A hard drive and a DVD rom but their rma procedure puts some of the other larger retailers out there to shame.

I would recommend using Realtemp 3.67 (for Sandybridge) for checking your temps.

And use Prime 95 in torture test mode to stress your CPU to get your temperatures under load.

It might be that your CPU cooling is not working correctly, for whatever reason.
