I’m about to place an order for our first gaming PC
Wondered if there are any Black Friday discounts and should I wait till next weekend?
It’s a custom build only £800 inc VAT
Also, the free anti virus trial - does anyone know if that kicks in from time of ordering or from when we turn the Pc in? It’s an Xmas present

I don't think it's possible to get any worthwhile gaming PC for £800 - we're looking at more like £1700 for a 1080p build. An £800 build will be on a 2-3 generation old platform/CPU/GPU with a weak PSU, weak motherboard, poor case/cooling, slow/little storage and no room for upgrades.

Also, you definitely don't want the 'free antivirus trial' as it's worse than the Microsoft Security suite built-in to W11 - and is just put there as PCS have a commercial agreement (i.e. get paid) to put it there.

It is up to the end user to comprehend and select the appropriate components for a specific task.

PCS, like any SI, assembles what the customer requests by only pointing out physical incompatibilities between components; it is not their responsibility (unless the customer explicitly requests it) to ensure that the system is designed with judgment in mind (this is where the forum and all the volunteers who share their skills/knowledge/time to help others for free come in).

There is nothing I can recommend with such a budget.

Anything less than this is not worth the money and will perform significantly worse than any console currently on the market.
