Yeah nice review and the pc looks the part!

I'd love to build the pc im currently saving for but I know almost nothing about builds and would have no one to help with pastes, cables and set up etc.
Ill just get PC Specialist to do it and ill stick in my Gtx 670 (thats stressful enough for my lack of knowledge lol)

Nothing wrong with that, this was pretty much a learning experience. Plus i was tired of somebody hogging my machine.... I think i could have done that just with the youtube video above and the mobo manual, but im glad i didnt have to.

Im seriously considering doing the build myself now!

When you get a chance could you list the things I would need...literally EVERYTHING and any tips I should know.
I know its a lot to ask but I would then buy parts bit by bit and then get ready to build etc

I already have a GTX Asus 670 and im looking to get these...

After that im not sure!

Dont worry if you cant be bothered though lol :D

Here what ive added to my list so far...unless people here say noooooo :D

Hey man, sure i can put up some resources if you like. I already mentioned this youtube video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ea_bs5G1yYU

as well as this guide for a complete start to finish instruction guide

http://www.scribd.com/doc/139299700/Pc-Building-Guide

In addition I'd check out www.Teksyndicate.com and their associated youtube channel. They have a build for every level of gaming ($400 dollars up.) They have a lot of options and make an effort not to be partisan.

also http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc is a good guide, although i dont like using that site.

www.tomshardware.com also do great articles on best cpu/gpus for gaming, which is updated fairly often and always has options for different price brackets. Lastly just pm me if you're considering something.

You will need:

a cpu (at least 20 - 30% of your budget)

a gpu (25 - 35% of your budget)

a motherboard (no less than fifty quid, really - i like asus but gigabiyte and msi are also good brands)

ram (1333/1666 your choice - i took 1333 for price and relatively good performance)

a psu (80 + bronze is a must)

a hard drive (wd cav black, alternatively a seagate offer cheaper alternatives)

a case (look for good airflow, then aesthetics, cable management is gona be a real plus.)

you might need

an optical drive (if you want to play cds, or install windows from a disc pick one up. you can get them for about 15 quid)

an after market cooling fan. (i really didnt want to run my cpu hot, and with 20- 30 pounds on a cooler master hper 212 evo i have all the cooling i need)

an ssd (if you have everything else then consider an ssd. you could get a 64gb for about 60 - 70 quid and put your os/maybe a game on it.)

PM any time you have a question, and i'd urge you to check out Tek Syndicate. (Here's their build playlist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv60r_cS8kw&list=PL441D9BF9F40D0E5E)

@Blackdog or anyone who knows!

**Rather silly question alert**
After watching a few pc building videos on YouTube im quite confident of building my rig soon (few more things to buy) but then what?

Literally have know idea what I should do or in what order after I press the power button for the first time lol

I'm so out of the loop I cant even see it!

Any guides online or tips on a step by step guide for initial set up etc?

So literally turn on the pc and stick the win 7 disc straight in...then download the prompted updates for gfx card and mobo?

The Windows DVD should autoplay when you turn on the computer, however if it doesn't if you go into the bios and change the boot order so DVD boots first, then it will run the setup from the DVD and away you go.

As you say, once you've installed windows get it updated and ensure all your drivers are up to date and you'll be set :)

I usually do it in this order.
First decide if you want to set the SATA Mode in bios for your OS drive to IDE or AHCI, if you have an SSD best set it to AHCI.
with the OS disk inserted pressing the F8 key on start up should bring you to the option to boot from the OS disk,if not, set optical (DVD) drive as first boot in bios like steaky mentioned.
Install drivers, motherboard drivers first, insert motherboard disk and run setup,
then install GPU driver from disk provided, you can always update this later if you want from
manufacturers website.
Check in device manager to see if any other device drivers are needing installed .
Activate windows if not already done.
Install antivirus program, then run windows update.

I have no idea what you mean regarding IDE or AHCI stuff lol
Sorry im such a noob at this stuff.

I'll just have a 1tb Caviar black drive so do I need to set that up or will win 7 disc do it for me?

But ill definitely be following the rest of the processes you do so thanks for that :)

Your system should recognise the 1tb Caviar black drive, you shouldn't need to set it up,if it doesn't,check it's showing in bios and enabled and that it's set to first boot or second after the optical (DVD)drive,if it's not showing, check connections.
Just ignore the IDE/AHCI stuff then,AHCI is it's only really needed if you have a an external hard drive dock on your case or using Esata,to enable hot swap (hot swap is the replacement or connection of a hard drive while the computer system using it remains in operation.),or perhaps using an SSD.

Just another probably obvious question I wanted to ask :p

When I've built my rig whats the best way to connect the screen to the pc?
The gfx card and the screen both have hdmi so is that the method I should be doing?

Yeah, hdmi or DVI, but if both the screen and graphics card have HDMI then that's what I would use :)
