I have ordered a new Pc with a Ryzen 5900X with an RX 6800XT and a Coolmaster Masterbox MB530P
Im not to sure I’ve ordered the correct cooler.
Ive chosen a PCS FrostFlow 240 cooler.
Was going to go for the Noctua NH-U14S. I have gone over budget already so cant really spend anymore.
Thoughts and advice please.

You’re really going to need something like the Corsair H115i RGB Platinum or H115i XT Pro to keep that processor at optimum thermal levels. What motherboard did you choose?

As @AgentCooper says, you're not going to be able to fit that processor without substantially upgrading the cooler to the H115i Platinum which is expensive but required as a minimum.

I'd also recommend silver warranty as a minimum.

Any reason for 32Gb RAM?

What monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're unsure?

@SpyderTracks I recommended it based on the playing of MSFS20...mainly I put it there in case the OP played older flight sims where RAM is more prominent.

Screen: 32 inch curved monitor 1920 x 1080. Phillips 328E8QJAB5.

Well I was hoping for a reply earlier, but because of advice mainly from yourselves I decided to go for an AMD machine.
Yes it will be mainly for sims.
I just don’t understand the whole cooler thing.
I have changed monitor to a 34” G34 WQC-EK 3440x1440 VA 144HZ 1MS

Feel free to pester us...we don't mind.

Cooler: Much like the engine in a car, the more horsepower and powerful the engine is, the bigger and better radiator is needed (for example, the Bugatti Veyron has a total of 14 radiators under the bodywork to cool the car due to the massive amount of power it produces)....so, the higher the CPU, the better the cooler needs to be. Not only does it relate to the size of the fans on the radiator but also the heatsink (the part that covers the CPU) as the better the heatsink, the better it is going to remove the heat from the CPU. Generally:

3900 and above: One of the H115i coolers as they are the best in terms of fan size and heatsink efficiency.

3700-5800x: The H100i Platinum is the best choice here. The Coolermaster 240 is a good alternative

Below 3700x: Standard fan is fine, any cooler will be fine

It's a non conductive coolant, so even if it were to leak (which literally never happens) it wouldn't damage anything, just make a mess. But there's only a tiny bit of coolant in there anyway.

They're incredibly reliable these days and take almost zero maintenance apart from dedusting once a year or so as you normally would.

I have gone over my £2000 budget and the wife’s not happy about me spending more and I’m at £2400 already so what I’ve done is drop the Seagate M.2 ssd for the 1tb intel M.2 and the saving will pay for the CORSAIR Hydro Series H115i RGB PLATINUM, but are the cheaper drives any good. I’m happy, she’s happy. If there is a big difference between the M.2’s I could probably talk her around.
With the cooler change, does the system look well balanced to you.

I wouldn’t recommend the Intel M.2, they’ve got a much lower write endurance than other brands. I’d suggest a change to the PCS version if you’ve got budget constraints 👍

I read a reply to a query and one of the mods said that the Asus motherboards don't like 4 sticks of ram.

Depends what speed the RAM is? If it's the 3600MHz above, personally, I'd lower it to 3200MHz, they've just had issues with getting 3600MHz stable. If it's 3200MHz then you can leave it as 4 sticks.

Yep, from going through the outcomes on previous threads regarding this subject, the solution to stability with 4x8GB 3600MHz RAM has been to use XMP to drop the frequency to around 3200MHz. Save yourself any stress by going for that option in the first place, as we don’t know when the compatibility issues will be ironed out 👍

There won't be any performance impact going with 3200.

3200MHz works fine for gaming purposes....the drop would have more of an impact with audio work etc. If It was me, I would go with 4x8GB of 3200MHz.....until recently we would have reocmmended 2x16GB as the ideal but it seems that the new Ryzen 5000 level chips give a performance boost using 4 sticks of RAM versus 2

I agree with the speed 3200 vs 3600 here, but the number of sticks? Do you have any links to evidence that 4 is better than 2 with the ryzen?
