Hi, i'm going to want a new PC for the new school year for my media production course. I will probably be doing some editing and gaming. Is this spec suitable for these tasks? My budget is roughly £400 and i already have a Geforce GTX 1050 graphics card i will be using unless it is cost effective to use a different card.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

I'll go spec you out a system, 1050 is fine for gaming but that cpu will be your bottleneck, give me a few minutes and I'll get back to you

I’m sorry but I really wouldn’t recommend either of these builds, they just won’t be anything close to what you’re needing.

You won’t get anything capable of what you’re expecting at £400 or anything close to that budget from a custom PC.

At that budget you’d only be looking at second hand. For something completely entry level from PCS you’d be looking at around £1000

What CPU would you recommend?
I won't commend on individual parts as it's meaningless.

I'm afraid the GTX1050 wouldn't even manage 50fps @ 1080p, you'd need a 1650 Super for that.

You won't be able to get a custom build anywhere near that budget, certainly not anything that's going to do what you're expecting. It's just not possible.

I’m not expecting anything great from this, I’m just looking for something to do my school work (mainly editing) and to do some light gaming playing games like minecraft, sims etc.

This is mainly the minecraft elite PC on PCS with a few changes. I’m looking for something similar to the minecraft elite PC that is compatible with my graphics card
Yes, £400 won’t get you anything that’s capable of either of those things at all, it’s just not possible on any way shape or form, you’d need to look at second hand.

As above, it's not possible at that budget, not even close.

This would be the absolute minimum and it's already making compromises.
