Looking for a system that will give me good rendering performance and gaming at 1080p max at frame rates of 60 or higher. Gonna use my GTX 950 upon receiving it and use that while I save for anew graphics card (possibly 1060 6GB, depends which graphics cards come out in the near future. I can stretch to around £1350 for this build if there are additions to be made. Thanks!

Am most likely going to go for 1080p since I don’t have a 1440p monitor at the moment.

Rendering in Maya (3D modelling software and renderer) and Unreal Engine 4 (game engine that also renders) and also gaming at 1080p max :)

The core spec seems sound for this.

I wouldn't cool an overclocked i7 8700k with the CM212x though... I wouldn't go any lower than the Noctua air cooler or H80i (and if buying the H80i, the H100i makes a lot more sense). Even just for gaming, but especially if one is rendering as well as gaming. I think the cheapest case that fits the Noctua might be the Corsair 200R, which is a decent enough case. A better case than the Cyclone might be preferable anyway, especially if you might one day stuff a very high end and hot GPU in there.

Just as a caveat, the GTX 1060 won't "max out" all games at 1080p. Even a GTX 1080 won't in some cases as there are a few brutally expensive and/or poorly optimised settings in some games that will bring the best hardware to its knees for no meaningful fidelity gain. That's not a criticism of the spec or your plan for it, just a warning that if you literally max out the settings, some games will run like garbage and look no better than if you carefully tweak the settings.

Yep. Thanks for that! I don’t really mind about max settings, but I’ll certainly put them higher than with a 950 :p

Edit: Went with the H100i V2, was the one I was gonna go with in a high end build. Seems like a very capable cooler. Thanks for your help! :)

It is a great cooler but the stock fans are quite noisy. If you want quiet either go for the upgraded fans or replace with your own at a later date.

Alright. Gonna go with the PCS ultra quiet fans then :)

Also, how good is this case?
