Hi, this is the first time I have built a custom PC. This build is for a music production PC running Ableton with VSTs and audio. I already have a usb audio interface. Will this be ok?

What is your budget? Is it purely for music production? No gaming or etc? Are there any other wants/needs from the system (quiet, RGB, etc)

There are definitely some adjustments I would recommend but all budget related.

my budget is £1200 give or take. I have changed the GPU to a 8gb AMD RX580. Its main purpose will be for music, vsts, audio editing. I wont be doing any recording, but still want it as quiet as possible, I don't really care about RGB if I'm honest, they don't improve the performance lol. Other than that I'll be using it for internet browsing. What would your recommendations be?

Hahaha, you need to get you a Simrig @Nursemorph

To the OP, the only thing you'll want to add at some point will be a second fast M2 drive for your effects, instruments, music related media. A 1TB SX8200 Pro would be my recommendation. Open case policy with the warranty so you're covered for adding bits and bobs as you need to :)

Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated. If needs be, I had plans to make upgrades in the future, extra storage and Ram, but that's the Initial build. My only dilemma is the GPU, I want something reasonable just in case I decide to do other stuff. And can I have some advice on partitioning the drive for OS.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the GPU. You would need to sacrifice other areas to up the GPU with the budget and there's nothing that can make way without being detrimental to the performance of the main use.

The 1650 is a 1080p gaming card. It's actually more than your current needs require, but it's at a good price point where it's a nice to have and will handle gaming to a decent level.

The "other stuff" needs clarified but you need to be aware that a well rounded "do-it-all" system would be significantly more expensive. The base suggested above has the potential to do absolutely anything you should wish...... it would just need a GPU/CPU/RAM upgrade to fit the purpose.
