Hello just purchased the PC below and wondering if I can change the colours or turn them off on the H100x liquid cooler. Or what I would need to do so. I have never had any RGB and spending 30 mins on google isn't helping me.

Thanks,

David

The fans and cooler head RGB should be controllable from the motherboard RGB software which is Armory Crate in your case.

Also a side note which must be windows 11 related, I have been interrupted a couple of time with sudden unannounced updates with a black screen saying "updates are underway". Last time it happened I had just started a game up on steam and the update even failed.... Surely this isn't right and can be corrected somewhere? I've asked a few people and they don't know.

Thanks,

David

The X models aren't iCue controlled systems. There's no software control. I personally would never suggest them for this reason, for the fraction you save you lose out on an awful lot of control.

Ah, fair enough...thank you. Fingers crossed the OP doesn't have any Armoury Crate issues...my experience of it is that I'd rather dump the PC out of my second story window than use it :ROFLMAO:

I should have heeded the warnings but I really wasn’t expecting this.

I installed armoury crate but I changed my mind after reading about openrgb . I then tried to uninstall but it said install failed and I had to restart. Now I have this screen.

Just a failed restart as it says, just boot as normal.

Yes just a failed restart. Great when it takes hours to figure out how to turn off a light... Probably quicker to install a new cooler.

Yeah, to be honest, we were very limited with the budget you had (although I didn't realise that cooler needed Armoury Crate else I never would have suggested it so my apologies for that). You really have 3 choices:

1) Stick with Armoury Crate. You might never have any issues...not everyone who installs it has problems with it so you might be one of the lucky ones;
2) As you suggest, install a new cooler. This seems like a waste of money given you have only just bought it.
3) Return the system for a refund (you have a statutory 14 day cooling off period during which time a system can be returned) and then order again with the better cooler:

"If you are contracting as a consumer, you may cancel a Contract at any time within 14 calendar days, beginning on the day you received the Products. You must notify us via durable medium (email / letter) and quote your order number in any communication. Notification by phone is not sufficient"

Not sure what happens with the cost of returning it or anything though

Armoury Crate usually causes issues when it's installed with another RGB/fan control software, or when a user tries to use anything other than than the Aura lighting or FanXpert part of it (i.e. the dodgy driver download page).

You could probably just turn off the RGB from the BIOS under the Aura section...but not tried that myself on that AIO.

I looked at that and again but I can't see anything about sudden unstoppable updates, I don't understand what's wrong with the old box popping up asking us if we want to proceed with an update. Maybe it could be the active hours thing?

May need to update yourself, stoppable windows updates hasn’t been a thing since windows 7.

You dont want to stop updates though, that’s rather the point.

First thing you do when you get a new system is make sure all windows updates and optional updates are applied

No I don't want to stop them I just don't want my PC to turn off and start updating while I'm in an interview or something.

I was going to I just had to test something urgently. Thanks though. I've had PCs all my life and I've never really had any trouble with crashes or anything going wrong since getting (very basic) viruses downloading music off limewire circa 2005!

I turned the RGB off in BIOS, think that's the best bet, the software was dreadful and it may well have caused me an issue.

Thanks all.

Not having a good week, hope everyone else is doing a bit better. So... another issue:

PC not turning back on after restart or sleep mode. The fans are going, there's just no signal to monitor I guess. I have to force shut down then start up again to get it going again. I don't really know for sure if it has always been like this as it's only 2 days old and obviously I've done a lot. It could have been since installing Armour crate as I noticed it then but I have uninstalled that and it's still happening and I could well have missed it before.

If you go into the Windows update area, scroll down and click on "Advanced Options". From there you can set "active hours". basically, it tells Windows when you are going to be using it so that it won't restart or anything during those times...I've had mine set to 08:00 to 02:00 for years and never had my system restart on me for an Update

Can you post the full specs please?

Can you post a screenshot of your device manager and optional updates page?

Can you upload a photo of the rear of the computer with the cables attached?

I take it you've been through all the usual of disabling hibernation and fast boot etc?

How did you uninstall Armoury Crate?

In the process of getting all the screenshots (everything looks fine as far as I know) but I just noticed this
which I probably should have googled sooner.... that looks very sus!

I guess I should reinstall and remove. When I sort of start something I can't really stop so this has been driving me crazy especially as I've been at work at not able to sort it.
