Given the size of my backlog (1000 or so of the games I own I actually want to play), I need some way to push through them, so why not focus on all the ones with pettable animals?!

I think it's more likely that I fall in love with one of them and decide to put the main quest to one side for a few dozen hours...

There's a puppy in Days Gone. You have to rescue it and give it to your best mate. That's a game mission.
