Cant connect on ethernet after unplugging cable yesterday????????

Hi. Daughter got new PCS build for christmas. Worked fine yesterday but she unplugged the ethernet cable (to use it on her PS4 as our wifi is terrible) then when she plugged back into the PC it doesnt find or see it. Any tips please. We arent very IT savvy sorry.

Hi thanks - this is the spec below. I set it up then left her to it and she installed Steam, Discord, and Roblox. Then she unplugged the ethernet cable, she doest know if she had switched off before she did this!! When i have switched on now - you cant open a web browser at all it tries then closes. If i go into device manager it says everything is working fine. It has got bullguard free trial on it but we havent set up an account yet. You can;t open the network settings as it opens then immediately closes. If we run troubleshoot nothing happens.

Does it connect wirelessly?

have you checked the cable both ends to make sure not damaged?

Have you a spare cable?

What hub do you have?

Not connecting wirelessly. Yes checked cable and tried different cable - just the same. Its a sky home router.

which sky router, they have several, a photo would be handy and also maybe one of where you are plugging it into on the router

Hi this is a picture of the router. Rebooting made no difference. Its also plugged into a ’secure powerline network’ (plug in device)

Hi this is a picture of the router. Rebooting made no difference. Its also plugged into a ’secure powerline network’ (plug in device)
Have tried plugging it direct into the router

Just took a look at the powerline plug photo closer, are you sure that lead is fully plugged in, id doesn't look it, also is the socket turned on

If the lights on the Ethernet port (both PC and router) are flashing, then there is activity so the cable is connected ok. If not, then try removing and reconnecting the cable.
If there are still problems, one thing worth trying is to turn off all devices connected to the network and wait 60 seconds, then turn them back on. This will clear any NAT/routing caches in the router and powerline units.. Turn on the router first. Then the PC. If they're connected via the powerline unit then turn those on too. If they're the only devices on the network then they should reconnect. Then turn on the other devices.

When turning on the PC, try the Windows troubleshooter. It may need to reset the network adapter.

Coming into this late so apologies if this has been mentioned and I have missed it but have you tried using that TPLink plug with something else to make sure that it is not the TPLink that has lost connection with its partnered TPLink near the router or even resetting the connection between the TPLinks anyway.

Open a command prompt or PowerShell session and enter the command ipconfig /all. Scroll up the output to find the entry for your Ethernet port, what is the IPv4 address value there?

hi ues it is properly plugged in and switched on. Is irrelevant now as it has completely died on us. Rang microsoft to ask if they can explain why things wont load and they advised a system restore and now it wont switch on at all. Will have to send back to store i think

Hi no its not the tp link. Its the pc itself. it is now completely dead after microsoft suggested a system reboot. Cant switch on at all now

Ah, sorry to hear that.

When you power on the PC, do any lights come on within the PC, and does it give a series of beeps? (the sequence of beeps may help identify what is causing it to fail to boot up).

Hi thanks. Feel rather gutted tbh. one very upset teenager :(. It comes on tries to load up then says windows error -
0xC000021AThis BSOD means that an error has occurred in a crucial user-mode subsystem. BSOD error code 0xC000021A may also show "STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED" on the same blue screen.

It's getting further than I thought in that case.

Do you have another PC or laptop that has an internet connection, and a spare USB stick (with 8GB or more in storage space)? If so, you can create a USB Windows 10 installation media, from which you can boot your problematic PC, and let the USB Windows 10 installation attempt to repair the Windows installation.

The URL to download the Windows installation media is here:

On that webpage, click on the "Download tool now" link. It will download a small application, which you then run to create the Windows 10 installation media.

Bear in mind that the USB stick that you use for the Windows 10 installation media will be formatted, so make sure it doesn't have any data on it that you wish to retain.
