1) Budget = £1,500 at the very top end, but ideally around £1,300 which is what the current build is around.
I suppose it depends what the extra money, up to £1,500, would get me.
2) PC usage = I purchased a laptop from PC Specialist nearly 12 years ago (14-01-2013). Key specs listed below:
Processor (CPU) = Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-3630QM (2.40GHz) 6MB
Memory (RAM) = 16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (2 x 8GB)
Graphics Card = NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 670M - 1.5GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
1st Storage Drive = 240GB KINGSTON HYPERX 3K SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 555MB/sR | 510MB/sW)
(Yeah, in retrospect I massively over speced with RAM)
The SSD drive now only has 12GB spare out of 222GB, the fan is constantly loud and sometimes even sounds like it's about to take off when I have any video calls on Zoom.
So, I think I'm well overdue a replacement, because I'm fearful that one day the laptop will die and I'll lose all of my data.
I currently do most of my gaming on my PS5, which I suspect will still be the case even after my PC purchase, but I'd like the opportunity to play Half Life: Alyx, finally be able to the play Zen levels from Black Mesa, the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and any other current/future games that I find interesting that aren't available on PS5.
I value frame rate much more than graphic fidelity.
The current spec below seems to get me a frame rate of around 120/130 frames per second (on average), so it'll be much higher than what I'm used to on PS5.
I'd also ideally like to future proof myself as much as possible (I've read articles in this forum that this is impossible for graphics cards). But I'd like to do this for the other components, as much as possible, as I very much doubt I'll upgrade for at least 5-10 years.
I'll also be using it from web browsing, some spreadsheet work and other usual stuff.
3) My monitor = It's actually going to be the same TV that currently use with my PS5: https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs-soundbars...he7cEwOi4uZjzuvsK8I6XoNgxnGnczLgdI6gWEWrIsnBg

My proposed build:
Case
PCS PULSE MID TOWER CASE (PWM)
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i5 14-Core Processor i5-14600KF (Up to 5.3GHz) 24MB Cache
Nb. I'm also considering Intel® Core™ i5 10-Core Processor i5-12600KF (Up to 4.9GHz) 20MB Cache
Motherboard
ASUS® PRIME B760-PLUS D4 (LGA1700, DDR4, PCIe 5.0)
Nb. I'd really like some feedback about the motherboard choice as I admit I've no clue about that and can't find anything online.
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 16GB)
Nb. I considered 3600MHz (2 x 16GB), but online reviews suggest it's not really worth paying more
Graphics Card
16GB ZOTAC GEFORCE RTX 4060 Ti TWIN EDGE - HDMI, 3 x DP
Nb. I'm also considering one of the 12GB Geforce RTX 4070, but can't find out the difference between the GDDR 6, Super and Ti Super... along with the sub variations of each of those, as well as the 4060 Ti.
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB CORSAIR ELITE MP600 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 7000 MB/R, 6200 MB/W)
Nb. I doubt I'll ever utilised all of this space as I've only just about used 250Gb after +10 years of my current laptop.
