Clevo Motherboard and Kingston 2.5 SSD

Hi!

I bought a laptop with CLEVO N870HK1 motherboard. I wanted to upgrade to a bigger 2.5 SSD.

Chassis & Display	Optimus Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD IPS LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU)	Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor 7700HQ (2.8GHz, 3.8GHz Turbo)

Turns out that Kingston SSD is not compatible with this type of motherboard.

Does anybody have any solution for this problem?

PS: I talked to PcSpecialist Support and went through all possibilities [hardware and software]. Works fine with WD 2.5 SSD and HDD.

If he's mentioning 2.5, then I'm assuming it's the standard 2.5" SATA SSD. I'm not sure why this laptop won't be compatible with Kingston and compatible with WD or any other brand, as 2.5" SATA SSDs are quite standard and never heard of incompatibilities before.

Have you tried it before calling PCS? If yes, what issues have you faced?

As above, any SATA drive will work.

Perhaps it's a height thing (9.5mm vs 7mm)??

I just looked at 2 random SSDs on both the Kingston website and the Western Digital website and both SSDs I selected were 7mm. Not saying all SSDs from both sites are that height, merely that the 2 random ones were

Yeah, I've not come across many 9.5mm drives either, I was just thinking out loud.

Yes it is a 2.5" SATA SSD.
I have spent 4 hours talking to PcSpecialist Support team.
We went through all possible software updates for the BIOS and chipset and formatting the SSD, trying to connect with Kingston SSD manager and Intel SSD manager(no luck, won't recognize it). Nothing. It would not be recognized starting at BIOS all the way to disk manager in Windows.
I have tried other SSDs and 1 2.5" HDD which worked, but only the Kingston branded SSDs would not work.
They are all the same thickness and fit perfectly.

Any other ideas?

Test it in another computer, sounds faulty.

It works on USB connection, with a 2.5" SATA cable. It has around 223GB free on it. At the moment I don't have a spare laptop I can plug it in and test it. I will try.

On a side note, I connected 2 other Kingston 2.5" SSDs on the motherboard and both did not show up.

What model SSD's are these? If we're talking ancient first gen SSD's then I could perhaps understand it.

Type: SA400, 240GB, 1 year old, have not been used until now.
