I have been experiencing a fizzing sound from my Processor Cooling: CoolerMaster MasterLiquid Lite 240 High Performance Liquid Cooler. Last night I looked inside my PC case and I noticed a stain on the backplate of my graphics card.

I have looked at the CPU temperatures using AMD Ryzen Master and there is no major jump in temperature. For example, the temperature with fluctuate between 30-50 degrees Celsius.

I have contacted PCS and will arrange to RMA my PC back to them on Monday.

I have a few questions:

How do I secure wipe my Corsair MP600 SSD (my boot drive) and my Toshiba HDD (second drive) before I send my PC back?

I was thinking of choosing different Processor Cooling: Which one would be a good choice?

Corsair H115i RGB PRO XT CPU Cooler
Corsair H150i RGB PRO XT CPU Cooler

I was thinking of getting a new GPU at a later date due to stock. A RTX 3060 or 3070.

Would it best to get a much bigger PSU, e.g. 1000w?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

Corsair is a better brand, H115i would be sufficient for this CPU. 3060 is for 1080p and 3070 is for 1440p, so it depends on what is your monitor and how many of them.

I wouldn't worry about storage, just make copies of your data.

Corsair 850W RMx is a very good quality PSU, but if you think to upgrade a GPU to even more powerful than 3070 or 3080 in future, then go for 1000W now.

If you feel the need to wipe your boot drive just do a full clean install of Windows. And as for the HDD, I’d just remove it before sending and replace it upon return (I can’t imagine that move would have any effect on the RMA, please enlighten me if I’m wrong).

Just checked your PC case and it looks that H115i won't fit in it due to its radiator size. H110i is your only best choice, if I'm not wrong.

Hi,

Sorry for the confusion, my case is the CORSAIR OBSIDIAN SERIES™ 750D FULL TOWER CASE as shown in the spec in my OP.

So I have checked and I could have either of the following:

Corsair H115i RGB PRO XT CPU Cooler.
Corsair H150i RGB PRO XT CPU Cooler.

My monitor is a IIYAMA G-MASTER GB2760QSU-B1 27 - which is 1440p and 144Hz.

Sorry for not posting any updates. PCS still have my desktop PC.

I have requested an upgrade to the Corsair H115i RGB Pro XT from the CoolerMaster MasterLiquid Lite 240.

I have a few questions.

Would it be worth it to upgrade the CPU from a Ryzen 7 3700x to a Ryzen 7 5800x?

Should I upgrade my GPU from an RTX 2070 Super to a 3070 Ti? I am asking this because my GPU and motherboard were damaged by the CoolerMaster leaking and the GPU will probably be replaced.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

Oh yikes, leaking sounds really bad that's a first for that cooler for me.

The R7 5800x would be an astronomical upgrade from the 3700x even a 5600x is an upgrade to the 3700x mate.

Also the 2070 super is nothing compared to the 3070Ti which is an amazing 1440p 144Hz Ultrawide based GPU

These two changes would propel your build into the stratosphere to be honest and your motherboard should be fine and PSU would do the job so hey if it's an option you could go for it

Sorry to hear about the cooler that's a headache no one wants, the coolers use non conductive fluid though so they shouldn't damage any of the components so long as they are dried properly

5800X is a superior CPU for home uses. It can eat nearly anything you throw at it.

H115i is a beautiful and very cool cooler 😎

Hi,

What are the waiting times for an AMD Ryzen 7 5800x and the 8GB Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Ti?

Any advice would be appreciated, please.

I sent my desktop back to PCS via RMA 3 weeks ago due to my CPU cooler leaking on to my GPU and motherboard.

I have received an update from PCS saying that after their initial checks and tests the only component that needs to be changed is the cooler. All other components are in full working order.

I have previously requested an upgrade to the Corsair H115i RGB Pro XT. I will just have to pay the difference.

My question is: Is it standard practice for PCS to just replace any components that are damaged or the cause of the fault?

I am wondering this because the cooler leaked on to my GPU and motherboard and they are just going to replace the cooler itself.

I have included links to 2 photos showing before and after the cooler leak occurred.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

The liquid coolers are filled with a non conductive liquid. Basically as long as they are properly dried before the machine is turned on again there shouldn't be any damage to any of the parts.

Sorry to hear about your issue mate that sounds like a pain, I've the same cooler but luckily I've had no issues I'll be keeping a closer eye on it now

They will test the machine before sending it back, should there be further faults then they'll deal with them once found :)
