Costs, tax, customs, etc for delivery to Ireland

Hi All,

Does anyone have experience of purchasing from PCSpecialist for delivery to Ireland (or other EU) since 1/1/2021? I am looking to buy a new laptop, but I don't want to get stung with extra customs duties when it arrives.

I emailed PCSpecialist themselves last week about this but didn't get a reply yet.

Thanks,

Mark

There won’t be any extra customs fees ordering from Ireland, although there may be complications / delays with shipping as fedex are doing European deliveries and they’re not the best.

have a read through this thread for others who’ve gone before:

If you can mate or if it's an option, get it delivered to N. Ireland. I've had no issues at all with delivery here in the north from DPD. Fed Ex are just a nightmare to deal with at the best of times never mind right now in a pandemic

PC Specialist are registered for Irish VAT and European Imports/Exports under the EORI scheme. When you order you receive an invoice with Irish VAT paid and their Irish VAT number indicated. Computers and computer parts are specifically exempt from import duties for UK to Europe imports anyway - so no additional duties will be due.

I have ordered already from Ireland and have no concerns. I do accept though that I may be waiting a while for my machine to arrive once it is dispatched.

Oh - and they are struggling badly with call and email request volumes so it may be a while before you get a reply - i imagine they are prioritising those with issues or requests for orders they have already placed or received - so you may be bottom of the pecking order email wise.

I don’t know if that’s the case but it might be....

I just got a reply from the PCSpecialist team:

--

Thanks for getting in touch all customers will now be charged VAT as we are VAT registered in Republic of Ireland you pay the VAT to us and we pay this on your behalf, there may be import charges but will not be charged VAT if you have paid this to us through the website.

--

Not sure what they mean by "there my be import charges" - I've emailed back asking for more info.

With regards to import charges, they may be covering themselves should the country the deliver too place duty charges on imports of computer parts. Rep Ireland I believe has a 0% duty with regards to computers and parts so their shouldn't be anything extra other than the VAT which is already covered
