Hi Guys
2 Problems for advice please
1. When I want to enter Bios my keyboard is not recognised on start up so pressing del button does nothing. (I Have got into Bios by the backdoor method but my mouse then doesn't work)
2. I have CoolerMaster H500 Case and when I power down the front fans stop and the LEDs stay on.
any suggestions please.

In Windows 10, you access the BIOS from within Windows by below:

This is because fastboot is so fast that the system doesn't have time to take a keystroke.

2/. That sounds like something is preventing full shutdown. If you go into event viewer and find where shutdowns are requested, then you should see shortly after that if there is something preventing it from fully shutting down.

If you can't locate what specific app is preventing shutdown, you can force closure of all apps when a shutdown is requested by the following registry edit:

Also it would be worth disabling hybernation on a desktop imho, it's not really that useful and can cause a lot of issues generally:
  1. 1/. The first step is to run the command prompt as administrator. In Windows 10, you can do this by right clicking on the start menu and clicking "Command Prompt (Admin)"
  2. 2/. Type in "powercfg.exe /h off" without the quotes and press enter. If you typed it in correctly, the cursor will simply start at a new line asking for new input
  3. 3/. Now just exit out of command prompt

That is how I entered (via the back door as I called it), the only problem is my keyboard or mouse does not work on the bios page.

That's quite common with USB keyboards and the reason why Windows 10 supports entering the BIOS.

thank you, but that still doesn't solve the problem that is when I am in bios I cant move the cursor or use the keyboard, is there a work round to that.

I have tried two one was Bluetooth so I guess that wouldn't kick in till after main load and the second was a USB one that I have had for sometime.
On my new motherboard it does have the old style connector for mouse and keyboard, unfortunately I don't have one of those.

What motherboard do you have?

Just looked up, does appear to be a general issue on gigabyte forums.

Try plugging both the mouse and keyboard into usb 3 slots on the back of the motherboard.

Nope that didn’t work, I have ordered a usb to PS 2 adapter to give that a try, this becoming a bit frustrating as the only two things wrong and can’t resolve

Ok, once youve got those, go into the BIOS and go to BIOS/USB Support and make sure it's set to enabled. That allows USB support outside of the OS.

The other thing you could try is if you're able to reset the BIOS to defaults, but if keyboard and mouse aren't working atm I guess that's a non starter.

I have a kind of fix for front fan leds I have to into RGB Fusion and turn them off before I switch.
They then burst back into life when I switch the pc back on, I can live with that.

Latest update:--------------------- adapters came to turn usb to PS2 connection, they were cheap and and that did not work, having said that mouse worked alright once the computer booted, so have now ordered a new key board and mouse with PS2 connectors, hope that works,

1. so still unable to enter Bios from start up
2. Fans LEDs still don't turn off on power down
3. The headphone port on the front does not not over ride sound from speakers

does really surprise me as the computer was tested and passed all pre checks. the only thing that I have had to do at first set up was finish install of Windows 10.

Could the faults be generated by the mother board or would it be a Bios problem, I still haven't rung support as they have enough on their plate, although I must admit if the new keyboard doesn't allow me into Bios I will have to (I bought the keyboard and mouse purely to get into Bios and use it after a restart.

Apart from the above computer is running well and temperatures seem good I ran Heaven Benchmark and was receiving good readings, and temperature was running at 83 to 85 set on ultra

Still don't like that blower 2080 super card though.

Just wondering, what process did you go through to install windows from scratch?

It was installed already on the computer so I just followed the instructions in the welcome pack
Sorry, ignore that last comment, I totally misread what you'd previously said.

My guess is that this is just a setting in the BIOS that's been set incorrectly regarding the mouse and keyboard.

The fans not turning off on shutdown is possibly a process that's preventing shutdown, but we can't troubleshoot that until you've got mouse and keyboard working.

Headphone issue, probably driver related, possibly just needs windows update applying.
