CPU Case question

Hi All
I have an order (below) which appears to be "close" to moving into building stage. I am now wondering about the case and whether I should change it. I currently have a 500D SE and was wondering whether a 5000X would be a better choice (or whether something else would trump both of them). I wouldn't mind some RGB goodness (would keep the kids happy for sure!). Any thoughts? Obviously happy to provide more details. Usage would be gaming on 4K 120HZ as well as video work on ShotCut/ DaVinci Resolve and some machine learning.

I have had a 500d se for a few weeks and like it. It has very good access to both sides with the opening tempered glass panels. One thing to note is that you won’t see much of 5he RGB on the AIO fans. I can’t comment on the other cases.

Personally i’d go 5000X, especially if you have an elite capellix already in the build. From what i have read, the metal and cabling used in the 500D SE is what makes it expensive. The 5000X is meant to be the first proper front tempered glass case - that still has fantastic airflow and it has some really great fans included.

Nice build btw, did you get help on here or spec yourself? The amendments are all pretty spot on too

I remember this one, as @psychedelicbeast quoted Twin Peaks at me. But the build has got a bit more Skynet since then. I can only assume world domination is on the cards 😜

The only thing I'd change on that build is the USB PCIe card. You already have fifteen (fifteen!) USB ports between the Crosshair's IO and the 5000X's front IO, and I'd have thought that, if you really needed more, you'd be better off with a USB hub rather than taking up a PCIe slot.

As soon as i saw an RMx... i knew it was assisted. Normally i’d read them specs and see a CV650 🤣
Nope, OP’s original build was very respectable and just needed some tweaks. But I’ve just gone into their post history (something I’d suggest you potentially do prior to making statements like the one above, it does our forum users a disservice) and I’m wondering if this is actually a different system. Original was a 5600X for their wife... has @psychedelicbeast now treated their self to an absolute monster?

Don’t get cocky, @Ash_. It’s not a good look.
I think maybe you should read my post and then read your response first Coops. You could clearly tell i was joking and if not... that is another issue. Instead, you decide to make what appears to be a passive aggressive comment and take the comment out of context and this is not the first time. In fact, it is not the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh time. So perhaps look at yourself, before you give advice ☺️.

PSU’s are regularly massively underspecced and even pre-built ones suffer from it. I was actually complementing the OP’s build, so not sure what you hoped to achieve by your initial post or by the ‘cocky’ post.

The problem is that a lot of your posts don’t actually come across as how I think you mean them to. What you see as a joke actually looks quite arrogant and condescending, especially to those who aren’t regulars of the forum. And the reason I repeatedly pick up on it is because I don’t believe it’s obvious to the casual observer and that it’s not in the general spirit of the forum. I don’t want new users being put off a PCS purchase because of the responses they receive on here... something which has unfortunately happened on occasions. If you think my stance is overbearing please take it to @moosEh, I’ll accept the judgement of the forum administrator.

Yeah @AgentCooper , this one's for me :) Ordered it in December, and PCS is telling me that it's close to getting built! Received the system that you helped me with a few weeks back (I upgraded it to the 5800X last moment), so my wife finally received her birthday gift about a couple of months late. But she isn't complaining... she's loving it along with the Samsung G9!

@Ash_ , honestly I received a ton of help from these forums by looking at what you, @AgentCooper, @MrWilson and others have been suggesting to others asking for help. Honestly these forums are really great. Can't thank you all enough!

Yeah think I've gone more than a bit overboard there!

Do you think I need to buy any additional fans if I switch to the 5000?

I couldn’t be more elated that you’ve returned to us! If you do decide to take over the world with your new system, remember me and I’ll either be a general in your army or be happy to get plugged back into the matrix.

It’d be a big brucie bonus for us if you and the good lady posted a few pics of your builds in the show off section, it’s always great to see a spec come to life 🙂

And if you’re not willing to do that, I’ll settle for another Twin Peaks quote...

Hah, definitely. Will put up pics once my PC arrives!

And if you like Twin Peaks, I really really hope you have seen Lost Highway, and my favourite movie ever, Mulholland Drive.

Mulholland Drive is a piece of art and Lost Highway has one of the all time surprising deaths... the corner of a glass coffee table has never looked scarier 🙃

I'm mostly lingering here because this is yet another build that will make my PC look like a hand held calculator. I think we should ban people from posting such amazing builds without checking with me first.

Three fans intake, AIO as exhaust - I would say an extra fans or two would be a good idea - as much to control the outflow of air to esnure that it passes over other components in an efficient way - and isn't just going in the front and straight out the rad. The extras wouldn't need to be running at anything more than low to middling speed.

They would help keep temps a little flatter generally also and perhaps keep things that tiny little bit quieter too. For the (relatively) little money they would add to such a super build, I think it would be a wise choice.
