CPU hitting 100 degree Celsius during Benchmark test - New CPU cooling suggestions

As above, twice, the link you posted shows the radiator in the front. The roof just has RGB fans. If your RAM is higher than standard or has RGB then you won't fit it in the roof.

In that video it's on the front?

Yes, good spot, i noticed it after i posted it.
I realize that my Zotac 3080 is longer than the ASUS TUF 3070 shown in that video so rad and fans wont fit at front - as @TonyCarter has alluded to.

I dont have the RGB RAM so in the first instance im hoping i can fit both radiator and 2 fans on the top, but i'm suspecting not from what i've read, maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised because im not using RGB RAM.

I've seen some images of people mounting H100i fans and radiator closer to the glass panel to avoid the RAM by making new mounting holes. Im open to this idea and another, a chap said he shaved some material of the fan shroud to make it fit too.

@TonyCarter would really like to see some photos of your build if have some.

This is how close the non-RGB RAM is to the cooler fans...

FYI, the brushed aluminium plate you can see below the GPU is my 4x m.2 PCIe add-in card (Asus Hyper m.2 x16 v2 - now down to £33)

@TonyCarter im having a nightmare at work today, and those images and seeing that clearance on non-RGB Corasir RAM has cheered me up no end!!

The founder edition 3080 is quite a bit shorter than my Zotac 3080, to the point that my heart sunk a bit (ok a lot) when i first tried get the GPU in the case. Its a millimeter or two from the fan blade, i suspect on paper it doesn't fit, thankfully in practice it does!

I got new cooler installed and it works great, but!!

The gpu is not recognised anymore, lights are on but could this be an underrated PSU maybe I need 850 W not. 750W??

750W would be really tight on a 3080 but it should still work, I would just recheck all the power cables to make sure they are properly plugged in and reseat the GPU itself

I tried to reseat the GPU, but i couldn't release it from ASUS Z490 plus motherboard, will double check cables later.

While i'm sure not advised - would it be safe to disconnect the cooler from the supply and boot into windows to see if GPU is recognized, 3 mins tops without cooler? Shoot me down if this is crazy talk.

You can try it, it's unlikely to cause any harm. It's a pointless task though as there's no doubt in my mind this isn't the issue.

To release the GPU you need to remove the screws/clips from the mounting bracket at the left hand side of the case as you look at the GPU, there's also a clip at the RHS of the PCIe slot. You'll need to push it down to release the GPU.

i like your confidence here, as id very much prefer not to buy a new power supply.

A 750w PSU is very much under what would be recommended. I wouldn't have chosen that personally and it's definitely something I would earmark for a future upgrade.

Always best to ask for advice before purchasing though as there are a lot of things often overlooked with a build (Case, PSU & cooling often the big 3).

Ok heading home to check cable and reseat gpu - I’m channelling your confidence that psu is not the issue!

Ah I see, I wanted to unplug the cooler to see to if gpu powered up and was recognised correctly.

Anyhow, i reseated GPU and everything is working now using the 750W psu, H100i cooler and 3080.

Previously I was hitting 100deg C when trying cpu-z stress test, now it just jumps from 30 to 60 deg and stays there.

If the power supply is at some point in the future falling short what should I expect to see happen and is there any test I can run for a few hours to test performance/ stability ?? (Of the new setup)

Thanks

It would normally be under heavy gaming load, the PC would either just power off, or you'd get a BSOD.

You can stress test it with Prime95 for the CPU and Furmark on the GPU, run those concurrently for about 10 minutes and that will tell you if it's enough or not.

Thanks - it’s all working fine, so is the game. Thanks all for help - really appreciated.!!!
