I got my new PC today, I've delicately set up my PC and monitor, followed all the instructions and everything seemed to be fine.

Checked for graphics card drivers to update and started to download Stalker 2

Got it running and just used the default settings. Game loaded up fine, no issues started playing and got about 2 minutes into the gameplay and my screen blinks a solid green once, picture briefly comes back and then it just turns a solid green. Can't go to desktop, can't hear the game audio anymore, I have to restart my PC by holding down the power button.

I try it again crashes before it get past the first loading screen (it's loading shaders it says), can recreate this again and again).

I look around, can see people are having the same issue or were back when the game launched in November.

I try to limit framerate through AMD adrenalin software, I clear the cache, check integrity of game files...

Load it up again it crashes before it even gets to the shader load page this time. It flickers about 2 times with the green screen before a solid green screen again.

I have no idea what's going on, no idea what I can do to fix it and no real idea how to troubleshoot this. Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Quick update it's just done it again when I was watching a youtube video, no audio, just a solid green screen again.

Edit: Hope that's what you need?

Spoke to tech support today, RMA'ing the GPU but no one seemed to sure what was happening, it froze when I was trying to attach system and application logs to an email.

Only started to work when an AMD app initialised safe mode

I believe that AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has an iGPU? Can you try plugging the monitor into the motherboard and using the iGPU as a test?

Hey Ubuysa,

The technical support agent I spoke to yesterday suggested that I connected the iGPU through HDMI cables, I tested the game and it crashed to desktop, without green screen error, instantly. (Which was to be expected he said).

After that he ran a stress test with the GPU not the iGPU and it froze instantly, screen went black and sound/keyboard/mouse were non responsive (had to manually turn off the PC by the power button again).

I can connect the iGPU again when I'm back home later, were there any specific tests you wanted me to run with it?

Thanks

Hey folks

New GPU came and since I've been using it there's been no green screen errors. I have had one black screen and unresponsive display so had to restart. I've got a surge protector but I think it was something related to the mains power supply not the hardware itself.

I'm a bit shocked the GPU was faulty but can't fault the help I got from tech support so plaudits to them. All got sorted before Christmas.

If you're at all concerned about your mains supply then get a UPS. The mains supply here in Crete can be flaky at times and I run my whole rig (PC, monitor, router, backup drives) from a UPS. That way I never have to worry.

If you do get a UPS then overspec it. Letting the batteries get hot massively shortens their life. I'm using a 2.2kVA UPS even though my power requirements are about a third of that. It runs nice and cool - quiet too even when the mains is off.

I’m currently in Canada, and every other advert on TV seems to be for a Generac 10kwh+ backup generator…should be fine for a few hours of gaming.
