Hi,
I am currently looking to purchase a DTR laptop so that I can take it with me if I had to work away. Most of my use will be at home so I will need a decent screen that I can link up to. I like to work with x2 screens but I have seen you can extra wide single screens that look pretty cool. I wanted to know if anyone had any advice when choosing a screen. Is there anything I need to ensure my DTR has that will help with its use through a screen?
My use will be Cad, rendering, Adobe programmes and general Microsoft Office programmes.
Also if there are any recommendations of where to get screens that would be helpful. I wasn't sure if PC Specialist sells the extra large ones.

For a DTR, I'd definitely recommend the Nova over the Octane (Nova is AMD, Octane is Intel). The Nova has much better thermals and more power as well especially for your uses.

What's your budget for the DTR?

Sorry, I'm not sure what AMD means, will I be able to run programmes in it still and have Windows? Sorry I'm not really very knowledgeable.

So I think I'm quite happy with what DTR I want to get (I've had advice from a previous post) and my budget for the laptop is £2k

Amd for the screen I think I'd be happy to spend £250 but could go more if it was crucial to do what I need it to.

AMD is just the processor manufacturer, AMD are far better than Intel at the moment.

This is about the cheapest Ultrawide you can get, but it's a fantastic monitor if your budget can push to it, it's £280 down from £350:

Thank you. This size would work quite well I think. When specifying my DTR do I need to have good resolution in order to get the optimum resolution out of the screen or does it not work like that?

Depends resolution for UW monitors as well, I've got a 32" 4K (normal monitor not wide) 'middle' and two LG Ultrawide 1440p next to it left and right (34WL85C), the uw's are on arms that allow them to switch between wide and tall depending what I'm doing.

Obv the lappy monitor next to it, drive them from TB3 dell Dock.

That's obviously over your price guide for monitor, but I'd recommend trying to save up and get a 1440p UW if possible, as they can actually be virtually split into two 'normal' monitors

Yeah that's the 1080p version of the ones I have, just saying that 1440p is kinda the sweet spot for uw's as they are usable as two monitors pretty easily. 1080p's I found pretty cramped to work with, but hey everyone to their own 😊

Thanks for pointing out, I missed that it was 1080... yeah, 1440 ultrawide would be far better but there just aren't any under £350

This is the cheapest 1440p Ultrawide that I can find, fully agree with @Charlas that it's much better to aim for this if you can:
