Do I Need a Bluetooth Dongle?

Hi

I know this is probably a stupid question, but should I have received a Bluetooth dongle with my PC build?

I ask as I am trying to pair a wireless XBox controller to my PC. I have turned on Bluetooth on my PC and pressed the pair button with the controller, but nothing is found.

Having looked through some other Bluetooth related threads here I can see that others have had a similar problem whilst trying to pair. Often there is mention of a Bluetooth dongle.

Should I have received one from PCS, or is it something I need to purchase myself? Do I even need one or is it built into the Motherboard?

Can you post up your whole build from your order page? Be careful not to include the Windows key if it's in there.

It doesn't look like you selected wireless. Does the ROG Z790 have wireless on it? Usually it's mentioned in the product description.

Just had a quick check and the Hero has Wireless and Bluetooth on board.

This should be your bluetooth driver if not already installed:

If you have a look at the Device Manager, this should show the bluetooth devices. If it's just the generic one you need to install the proper driver.

Ensure you have the antennae attached though, it won't work without it

That is the whole build in my original post. I just didn't include things like case/software.

Looking at the configure gaming PCs page on the PCS website, it would appear there are no options for Bluetooth, which is probably why I assumed it was built into the Motherboard, or a dongle would be included. My bad I guess. I'll just have a look on Amazon and see what Bluetooth USB dongles they have.

You're missing what's being said, it already has Bluetooth on the board.

Ah! Oh! That thing. Oops. I saw it in the box when I got my PC and promptly ignored it.

I'll report back once fitted.

I dug out the antennae from the box I had stored away. I attached it and tried again, and what do you know. It worked.

Why is it that sometimes the simplest fixes are often overlooked? 🤣
