Does this look damaged?

when you're writing a reply on here, and someone posts while you're writing, a green box pops up telling you that there are unread posts since you last read the thread
And it’s the reason why you often see a fair amount of duplicated advice on forum threads as many people scramble to reply all at the same time.

Let us know how you get on, @Jp869 🙂

Ah I see! I was googling to find out what it means and read information implying that PC Specialist have a green box of second hand GPUs that they put into PCs when doing repairs. Thankfully it means something much less insidious.

So, I have unscrewed the GPU and plugged it all in correctly. The lights on the GPU are now on, the fans below are spinning.

But, still no output to the monitor, keyboard or mouse. This, I assume, is a motherboard issue again. You can't make this stuff up.

Any ideas?

Might sound really stupid mate but can you make sure the monitor is plugged into the GPU itself?

The motherboard will have a display port as well but it would need to be plugged into the actual GPU for it to work

With the lights turning on and fans spinning mate this tells me it's not a motherboard problem

If the motherboard is having issues generally nothing works from my experience. May be worth double checking the USB headers to make sure they didn't come loose. This is just making sure all the cables around the motherboard are firmly in place and properly plugged in

It's a pain mate but might as well rule out as much as we can

When you turn the system on is there any beeps (ie 2 short, 1 long or 1 long 3 short)? I see a beep speaker installed which might give us a clue as to what's causing the issue.

Also your full spec from the order page would be super useful! Just make sure you remove the windows licence if it's on the order page

Yep, I've gone through it inch by inch, everything is plugged in fully.

There are either no beeps, or one very quiet beep, but I expect this is the GPU turning on. If the beeps are meant to be obvious, there are none.

I'll send the full spec now.

If it means anything - I can use the power button on the top of the computer to turn it on, but I cannot use it to turn off the computer as I could previously. If I hold the button down it just flashes three times before returning to a solid light, and the system doesn't go off.

Might be worth checking some other connections then, reseating the RAM would be a good starting point. There’s a little clip that holds the stick in place, push that back, remove and then gently push the stick of RAM back into the slot until you hear the clip click back into place.

I have reseated all of the RAM, no changes unfortunately.

I think I'm ready to throw in the towel...

Not sure if this is going to help but just wanted to share my story with you as I had somehow similar experience with pc refusing to boot. My pc arrived smashed first time round, I sent it back and once I got it back it just wouldn't boot at all. All rgb leds were switching on but monitor was displaying "no signal" message.

I phoned PCS and they asked to try few different things - reseat RAM sticks, try different slots, try different monitor and cable, and then finally reseat GPU which was the hardest bit. I removed the screws mentioned on the picture above but once I tried to press the pin behind the card which was supposed to release GPU from the slot it was stuck and wouldn't move at all ( supposedly it was damaged during transit). I was scared I was going to break something and void warranty but somehow I managed to push the pin and release GPU, pin was much easier to push after that.

Unfortunately all these attempts were in vain, I was really frustrated and dissappinted that despite long wait and RMA I still didn't have working pc however PCS customer assistant were absolutely brilliant. Chap I've spoken to was extremely helpful and apolegetic and said that he was going to raise second RMA and that he will sort everything out and make sure pc gets delivered to me in acceptable condition.

According to fault report I received, both GPU and RAM were faulty( call me lucky). Once I got pc back ( this was the 3rd time) it finally worked ( yay). Overall PCS staff were brilliant, my only complain would be that the packaging they use doesn't seem to be that strong and I mentioned that to cutomer service but the only reply was " that's what we use, it works most of the time". I also asked for some extra protection to be used as it seemed my local DPD courier clearly didn't care much about my parcel but unfortunately my request was ignored and despite pc being delivered damaged twice they once again sent it in standard packaging. Overall I'm happy but dealing with those issues can be stressful, especially given GPU shortages and how expensive pcs are nowadays. Don't lose faith, be patient ( I know it's hard sometimes...)let's hope this gets solved one way or another.

Tell me about it, when I returned the PC for the RMA I put the PC back in its original packaging, with the foam inside, then wrapped it in a thick blanket and then into the box, to prevent DPD causing any damage.

PCS not only did not use the foam, but they kept my blanket...
Also make sure that the monitor is set to the correct input in its menu

Yep, it is. It shows no signal, just as Vigra mentioned.

It obviously passed the stress test for them to return it to me. I would assume the issues were caused in transit, but I struggle to imagine any way the fin would be damaged and a hole created in the meshing guard on the top.

Anyway, thanks for the help everyone, I guess I'll send it back.
