Hardly surprising to see this, knowing what we do about their business practices. But it still makes me feel grubby just reading a story like this...

A leaked EA document has described FIFA Ultimate Team as the ‘cornerstone’ of the game, as EA do ‘everything we can to drive players there’.

I used to buy FIFA every year and Madden most years, but after a few years, I realised I was spending a fortune on Ultimate Team which was pretty much useless once the new game was out. Madden Ultimate Team had single player challenges which stayed up after the new release which was slightly better value for money, but the game would still be pushing you to buy the new one at every available opportunity. Last EA game I bought was Jedi Fallen Order, and the next EA purchase will be Mass Effect Legendary Edition - basically just avoiding the microtransactions as best I can.

EA is on the bad list for me due to Battlefield V (After all i have every Battlefield game for PC, it was the main franchise i supported), but with BF:V's issues and quick kill support for the game plus the MTX stunts they are pulling if any game has a sniff of MTX i am not touching it.

I might purchase ME:LE though as i have the original versions of the games and i have yet to start playing it, i was looking into buying JFO as well however got squadrons instead.

They haven't released a decent Battlefield since 4. Funny old thing the two they have released since then are full of micro transactions.

Yes that is true which is why to me BF1942 BF: Vietnam (OG) BF:2 BF2142 are my true loves and BF3/4 are just for fun.

I totally get that they're a business and it's a proven earner but it just stinks of corporate greed and it's fleecing people (usually kids) who don't see the big picture.

For all that's bad about EA I was still happily surprised to get EA Play with XBGP.

Now I can play the Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Crysis and Mirrors Edge games I missed (yes, I missed all of them... yes, I know... long story)

But yeah, aside from that EA are gits.
