Hi all,
I've been browsing around quite a bit over the last 24 hours but i'm not able to fix the issue that i'm currently facing.
I went into my BIOS yesterday morning to change my boot mode from UEFI to Legacy - This is so i could boot a Linux USB for work-related stuff.
I saved the settings and rebooted.
Now the machine will no longer POST. - The Power LED lights up and the keyboard illuminates but nothing shows on screen. It's not that the screen backlight comes on and then it's a black screen. The screen doesn't turn on at all. - The fans appear to turn on for a few seconds and then turn off but i'm unsure as to whether this is normal during the boot process.
My first initial through for fixing this issue would be to reset the BIOS by disconnecting both the laptop and CMOS batteries from the motherboard however this doesn't to appear to have worked. I've disconnected both batteries overnight to fully give the chance for the BIOS to reset but after draining the rest of the power out of the machine by holding the power button for 60 seconds connecting them both again. It doesn't appear to have done anything.
The machine still sits on a black screen with an illuminated keyboard. - I've also tried testing with an external monitor via HDMI & DisplayPort but still nothing.
I've spoken to PCS Technical Support over the phone and they have advised me to book an RMA and send the machine back to repair. This has been done and the machine is scheduled to be picked up in 3 days.
If there is anyone out there that could perhaps help in any ways or has experienced something similar then it would be greatly appreciated. I've been tinkering around with machines for the last 10 years and my job is also in the field of IT but i've never encountered any issues like this. Whenever i have reset the CMOS in the past it's been a matter of taking it out for a few mins and then popping it back in and then the settings have been restored but this has completed stumped me.
Thanks for reading.
