Fan Mesh Filter Noise

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I have been sent a replacement in the past which rectified the situation but it looks like this has come back again. I have a mesh filter for the front 3 fans on my PC. These fans draw air IN. It looks like the mesh filter is slacking slightly and therefore is now rubbing on the fans and creating a loud and very annoying 'ticking' noise. As soon as I remove the filter, the noise stops and it returns to being quiet, but obviously I want the filter there to ensure minimal dust is entering the PC.

After closer inspection to the mesh filter, it doesn't seem to be very 'taut' and therefore this is where the slack is coming from. I emailed PCS for a replacement a while back which worked but I am now looking for a more permanent solution. Has anyone else experienced this at all? I have recorded a video which shows the annoying ticking sound..

Thanks,

Can you post your full specs from the order page?

What case is it? Does the filter only fit one way or can it be flipped so that the mesh is further away from the fans?

I hate to say it but the real issue is that the case isn't suitable for the build.

I'd be interested what your GPU temps are under stress.

But the *solution* would be to upgrade the case quite substantially.

I apologise for the bluntness but, really? That is incredibly excessive for what the actual problem is, and that is that the mesh filter is not fit for purpose, manufactured by PCS. I've already changed this filter once before in the past. The mesh is slightly loose and not tight and when you take the filter off and away from the fan, the ticking noise stops. So, I don't think the case needs changing, but I appreciate and understand that that is an option as well.

I think the solution would be for PCS to look at how they are manufacturing their mesh filters so that they don't have any/much play in them.

PCS don’t manufacture anything, they’re purely a systems integrator that rebrands some entry level budget components. They don’t make them in any way.

It’s an extreme budget case, it’s by no means suitable for the level of components. It’s not designed for that system.

Im betting your GPU is being held back by inadequate airflow.

Common mistake that people don’t understand the importance of a case in a system, it’s paramount to be able to support the components within.

Just so you are aware, PCS don't manufacture the case...they get them from a 3rd party and they are branded PCS.

As we don't know who makes them, your best bet would be to contact PCS to see if they have encountered this before and if they have any solutions
