Final spec check needed before order

A few weeks ago, I went through the process of configuring a spec for my first new system in seven years, and as I plan to order it later this week, I just wanted to put the spec up for 'final approval' by the experts on this forum before I go ahead and spend a substantial amount of money on purchasing the system.

Just a reminder that I'm a low demand user whose most intensive task is audio editing on Audition and although I'm not much of a gamer, I'd still like a system with a fair bit of 'oomph' capable of running games like FS2020 which take my fancy every now and then.

Welcome back, good sir. Looking at your spec, it's a fairly healthy one. Only a couple of tweaks I'd make if it was my build...

I'd wait until 5th November and go for the 5800X CPU, although I understand you've already been waiting for the RTX 3070 to release so I get it if you want to pull the trigger on this sooner rather than later. I'd additionally ideally upgrade the cooler to the H100i or H115i RGB Platinum, they're a bit more premium and also run more quietly (not sure if background noise is something you'd need for your audio work?)

I'd consider adding a HDD for extra storage but that's something you can always do yourself at a later date, it's an easy upgrade.

And lastly... I'd never use Chrome. Get that changed to Firefox 😜

Like I said, these are the changes I'd personally make but you've got a pretty respectable build as is. There's nothing that NEEDS to be changed... except Chrome. Seriously. Get rid.

Good; thanks for casting your eye over it.

All things being equal, I'd be prepared to wait the extra week for the 5800X but my concern is that doing so would put me down the queue to get the RTX 3070 straight from release date if (as indications seem to suggest) demand is high and PCS only get limited initial stock.

I'd additionally ideally upgrade the cooler to the H100i or H115i RGB Platinum, they're a bit more premium and also run more quietly (not sure if background noise is something you'd need for your audio work?)
Yep, I've got no problem with making that change; I presume you're referring to those listed under 'Ultra Quiet Fans'?

I'd consider adding a HDD for extra storage but that's something you can always do yourself at a later date, it's an easy upgrade.
To be completely honest, I've got two large HDDs in my existing system that I'm just planning to move straight across.

And lastly... I'd never use Chrome. Get that changed to Firefox 😜

Like I said, these are the changes I'd personally make but you've got a pretty respectable build as is. There's nothing that NEEDS to be changed... except Chrome. Seriously. Get rid.
Understood :D

The RGB Platinum coolers are at the very, very bottom of the drop down list under the header RGB LIQUID PROCESSOR COOLING. If the H115i fits that case (which I think it does), that's the one to go for. If not, the H100i is the one you'll want.

As regards hanging on for the 5800X, that may create a wait, but there's no way to know. Looking at the specs, I think it'll be worth it. I'm hopeful that the fact Nvidia have delayed the release of the 3070 by a fortnight to increase stock levels means there'll be plenty more to go around. And I also said on another recent thread, the demand for a 70 card is always less than an 80. The 80s are the ones that people go a bit mental for as they're the most powerful gaming GPUs and with that comes the bragging rights. So hopefully, you shouldn't be in the same situation as everyone who ordered a 3080...
