Finance Error

I was applying for finance and I got information that I gave wrong card details, but it still took money I wanted to give for the deposit. What should I do in this situation?

It's unlikely it's taken the money, it will have just reserved it, the bank will cancel the hold eventually. Can sometimes take 2 or 3 days though.

The money indeed is reserved. So should I just wait for those 2-3 days until bank cancels the hold? Or should I also try to contact the help line as soon as it opens?

Also I still want to buy the PC, but I'm worried that situation might repeat. What should I do in this case?
Double check that you definitely put the correct details in next time?
I can only suspect you mistyped something for the card (cvv, expiry date, registered address etc) - the registered address for the card is the same as the delivery address you're setting for the PC correct?

It will eventually cancel but can take banks a few days for this to happen. There's nothing you can do, the money is literally in between entities until it clears on the banks side.

I mean I got error that I supposedly put in wrong details but money still has been put on pending so it must have been all correct

Something here doesn't add up. If you gave the wrong card details, by default the bank would not even get as far as reserving funds for the transaction just wouldn't go though.

There's little value in asking people on this forum who don't work for PCS for assistance. Just ring PCS in the morning and seek their advice.

It's actually completely normal, the card issuer reserves the payment weather finance is accepted or not.

It's listed in the PCS finance section on the website:

IF MY APPLICATION IS DECLINED, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AND WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE REASONS?

If your application is declined your deferred payment will be aborted. An immediate notification will be sent to your card issuer but unfortunately some banks may keep a shadow on your account for up to 1 week.

If you wish to proceed with your order by another payment method, you can do so by logging in to your account and following the options available to you.

There are various reasons why your application may have been rejected. In addition to credit scoring, other factors such as confirming your identity, validation of certain application details, existing commitments and information held at the credit reference agencies will be taken into account. Our finance company does not provide a reason for declining applications, but more often than not it is due to one or more of the following reasons:

  • Your credit score (note that every finance company will score you differently).
  • Adverse credit reference agency information.
  • You are considered to be overcommitted.
  • You are under the age of 18.
  • Your existing account performance with other lenders.

You misunderstand me, and I possibly misunderstand the OP's predicament.

The OP says the finance was rejected because they put in incorrect card details. But payment was still reserved from that card.

If the wrong debit/credit card details were put into the system the card issuer would not reserve the funds from the card because it would fail their security authorisation.

So does the OP mean they put the correct card details into the system but were refused finance at the end of the application? or do they literally mean they put the incorrect card details into the system, were rejected on that basis, but money was reserved any way? If that's the case then something does not add up.
