First build in 5 years

Hi all,
Do you have any thoughts on the below please? I haven't bought a PC in nearly 5 years (Currently running a 1080 and 6700k on a 1440p main display) and am thinking this should be a decent upgrade. I mostly like to do Sims, Skyrim, Music and a few other random games, also needs to run a screen reader (JAWS & NVDA) well.

This is a very high spec build for your monitor and the types of games you play… 😳 what’s your max budget, are you actually going to be playing more demanding games than these? Whats all of the extra storage for?
Sound cards aren’t really needed unless you’re doing professional audio editing, recording etc.
You’ve also gone with Windows Professional; is this needed for your uses?

I feel like a lot of your choices are way overkill, are you also planning on upgrading your monitor at all?

that is definitely overkill pc. Kinda what i did, where money is not an issue :D
If that is true, i would suggest to grab the Hero motherboard for 5950x. Or unless you do heavy work with it, streaming and stuff, consider downgrading that CPU to 5900x, you really dont need 16 core outside of production.
If you upgrade to Hero board, sound card is definitely not needed at all, as that board has super high end audio with amp included.

As Tomberry said above, could you provide your usecase scenario? As this is really massive overkill for most stuff, especially for 1440p non ultrawide

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. We do 'professional' audio recordings, main reason I went for all the storage. Currently have a 4tb NAS and 8tb of storage on the PC but we're always running out and I dislike the waiting time for transferring files to/from the NAS with the 5400RPM drives in there.
The budget we've set aside is £10k, am planning this for ~£6200 here plus upgrade the MSI Optix 32 1440p screen to the Gigabyte Aorus FV43U 4k screen as an upgrade for the main display. This'll hopefully leave over some extra cash for a NAS upgrade and a nice UPS.
Have gone for Windows 10 Professional purely for Bitlocker.
There are more demanding games I'd like to play but the current machine struggles with (New MS Flight Simulator, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Cyberpunk 2077, even the heavily modded Skyrim modlists strain it massively), plus I'd ideally like to leave it as is for the 3+ years and not worry about framerates etc. as being partially sighted/legally blind, I can't do builds/upgrades myself any more.
Thank you Loso for the advice around the Hero board, I've added that (Crosshair VIII Hero) and taken out the Soundcard and Wifi card (as it seems to have both) and saved £200! I also upgraded the cooler from the 115i to the 150i.

regards professional audio. While the motherboard has definitely high end good audio. If you need professional stuff. i would suggest external DACs, no onboard sound, neither the PCIE cards.

I am no expert tho, but as far as i understand, investing into a really good external amplifier should provide much much better results. Maybe worth looking into that

With that budget, would you be better off getting 2 PCs, one optimised for music and the other for gaming? Optimising for one use may compromise the other.
