First ever PC build - all-round workstation and gaming (Spec Check)

  • Uses - My aim for this build is for it to be an all-rounder; to function as a workstation for general office work (e.g. Excel, programming) and for gaming (at at least 1080p but with the ability to upgrade to 1440p if I so desire)

  • Monitor - Current Monitor: Dell ST2320L (1080p, 60Hz). However, as I mentioned before, I am open to purchasing a 1440p monitor with a higher refresh rate if it would be compatible with the specs below. Any recommendations for such monitors (budget ~£150) would be appreciated, as the monitors guide link seems to be broken.
  • Budget - £1500 - £1800

I've also recently read about some issues with ASUS motherboards when paired with certain AMD components. I'm unsure if that would be the case with the parts that I have chosen though.

The very lowest I would recommend for 1440p would be this Iiyama at £275, you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere. Below this you're looking at very old technologies that will severely reduce quality and just aren't worth it.

I see, I'll hold off on a monitor for now then. Thank you.

Does the other stuff look ok though?

If you're not going to be upgrading the monitor for a while then there's no need for that GPU, the gpu fits the monitor otherwise you overspend with no benefit because the monitor will bottleneck the gpu

I'll definitely be replacing the monitor in the coming months, it's just that to do so right now would exceed my budget. I reckon I'll stick with this CPU then. Thank you for your help!
