I would make a few changes:
Case
FRACTAL FOCUS G BLACK GAMING CASE (Window) this case is very good for airflow at a budget
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Six Core CPU (3.8GHz-4.4GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4) Same CPU
Motherboard

ASUS® ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING (DDR4, USB 3.1, 6Gb/s) - RGB Ready! Could change this motherboard to 550 for future upgrades
Memory (RAM)

16GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB) 3200mhz ram which will be better suited for CPU so it won't bottleneck
Graphics Card

8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 5700 XT - HDMI, DP - DX® 12 This GPU is more powerful than 2060 super however they have had driver issues in the past which have believed to been fixed but its personal preference if you want a better performing GPU at this price I would get it
1st Storage Drive

2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 256MB CACHE I changed your first storage to an HDD and ur SSD to m.2 and to the Samsung Evo as this is going to have higher speeds than the one you selected for around the same price.
1st M.2 SSD Drive

1TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W)
Power Supply
CORSAIR 650W TXm SERIES™ SEMI-MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET Higher Watt for future upgrades if needed and txm is quieter and more efficient
Power Cable

1 x 1 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling

Overall this would be better suited for performance at the same price level and this pc would be best suited for a monitor at 1080 144hz or a 1440p 144hz. The watercooling as well isnt really needed for this build the AMD stock cooler that comes with the cpu is more than enough even for slight overclocking im using it right now and had zero issues with temps

Hi all,
Thank you for the replies

To answer your questions
My maxmium budget is around £1400 but can give £50 give or take.
I don’t have a selected monitor right now however I was looking on Curry’s and found this - https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/compu...ed-led-gaming-monitor-black-10202553-pdt.html
This would just be a gaming computer I do all my development on my Mac
I would prefer getting an 1080p as they are cheaper but I wanna make it sure the computer gets the best out of it.

Oh no the system and the monitor are two different Categories.

This new system wouldn’t over heat or anything like that right?
sorry i’m quite new to building PCs

Also what is the difference between m2 ssd and a regular ssd they seem to be more expensive

Hi there,
i was just looking over the spec of my computer (it’s still in pre-production) and i noticed that my case doesn’t come with a rear fan (at least that’s what I saw on YouTube videos) do I need to extra fans or will pc specialist add those extra to the rear?

Hi there,

I have being using my pc (the one you have designed) and all of a sudden I heard a loud pop and all my electricity in my house dropped.
I then turned everything back on and lastly the computer,
when I turned it on I saw that there was another pop and sparks coming from the battery and all my power went out again,
this keeps happening now and I haven’t plugged it back in,
why is this happening and can PC specialist fix this issue? I believe the battery needs to be change and lower voltage

To add my feedback, I would second Nursemorphic here, PCS are very approachable, as they answered all my questions back when I ordered my PC in may during the first couple of months in the covid 19 pandemic which obviously effected lead times. Regarding your hardware I have the Fractal Focus case and a similar setup hardware wise to yours, same RAM, Processor and graphics card, just with the ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING motherboard.

From the couple of months I've had the PC and run it for gaming I've never had thermal issues (the only game I've had problems with is Detroit: Beyond Human, but I think it's a problem between NVIDA / the drivers not the system). I think the hardest it has been pushed so far is with Red Dead Redemption 2, as I put the settings to max (no issues) and with RUST, which is a very asset heavy game and does use the processor and storage drive quite a bit. The stock provided case fans and CPU heatsink appear to handle things just fine, along with the 20270 super cooling)

Hi both,

Thank you for your input, I have contacted PCS and they will take the pc back and replace it with a new PCU.
In regards to surge protector, I don’t believe my extension cord has it so I would need to look and buy that, I just wasn't aware this would be an issue.

All I was doing on the pc was downloading warzone since there is a new update and that’s when it did the pop and Spark and tripped the electrical box.

The thing I don’t understand is that, all my plugs and electronics work without tripping the box, once I plug in the computer and turn it on instantly it pops and sparks and trips the electric box outside, would anyone know the reason for this? Do I just have too much plugged in? Or is 650W too much? Should I ask to downgrade it to a 550W?

Hi everyone,

I have just received confirmation they have fixed the computer and are sending it tomorrow,
the issue was that the PSU had blown,

“We have completed our RMA repair of your system. During the testing phase we were able to isolate the fault to the PSU. This has been replaced and your system now operates as intended.

To further rule out any hardware or software faults, the system was placed on an overnight stress test. The system has passed these tests with no further faults replicated.”

I have sent them an email just for a little explaining on why this has happened and is there a way to prevent it.
they are saying ”We are unable to advise on the reason for this issue, but it has been fully tested in our own workshop without any further faults.”

I just want to know why. It’s coming tomorrow and even though they have tested it I am still hesitate to actually plug it back in due to the loud pop and smoke from previous computer.

I have googled this issue and all it’s doing is making me more confused.
can someone provide a brief explaination on why a PSU would blow? And how to prevent it again?

It's likely because of a faulty PSU, it's not something you can necessarily prevent, it's just down to luck of the draw if it's a bad unit or not.

A healthy PSU would never blow in this way on a normal home circuit if it was on a working surge protector. This unit must have been faulty from the factory, there's no way to know that until it goes wrong, that's the thing with circuitry.

Yes I have now brought a surge protected extension plug, hopefully that will keep it away from the pops, I won’t lie it really did mess me up that’s why I’m a bit hesitant to plug it back in, but thank you for the reply though.

I think you have just been unluck. There is a phenomenon know as ‘infant mortality’ where equipment has a higher failure rate when new due to undetected faulty components or installation. These are normally discovered during soak testing or early in equipment life, if they exist. Your replacement should be fine. I have had a a PC PSU go bang on me before at work many years ago. There was a loud bang and smoke pouring from the PC. This turned out to be a big voltage spike due to a JCB hitting a power cable. A surge protector would possibly have prevented that.

Hi,

thank you for your replies! The computer has been returned and it seems that the PSU has been fixed, however (this is getting really annoying now), when I plug in the DP to my monitor there is no signal, I’ve always tried to plug in my keyboard and mouse to the motherboard but there aren’t any lights on the devices.

Everything in the case is light up, the GPU is on, all the fans are spinning even looks like the motherboard is on as well, my monitor detects there’s is a signal but doesn’t displays it, so I thought it was my monitor i plugged in my laptop using hdmi and it was displayed nicely on the monitor, I did the same thing using the same hdmi cable but into my GPU and my monitor it detects there is a output but it’s instead shows no signal.

I don’t know what the issue is here since it looks like everything is up and running. Am I really this unlucky?

*Update*

i noticed there was a red light on the motherboard (after leaving it on for 30 mins),
I turned it off again and turned it back on and saw that it actually changed to white then green and then it took me to the BIOS, I then exited from there since I had no idea what I was doing and it took me to windows.

i guess the pc just needed to chill? I still don’t understand what happened but a simple restart got it all working again.
