First Gaming PC, possibly need some help

Hi, I've configured a PC that will be used mostly for Gaming as I want to switch over from console but will also be used for the simple Microsoft Word etc. I'm sure. Here are the specs:

I don't really want to increase this price too much but if there is something I should adjust then I'm more than happy to think about it especially if it's worth it! Any help is appreciated a bunch! As this is my first PC I've done the research that I can but not sure if something obvious has been missed or just others' opinions could help! Thanks

Hi Matthewfoel

They will need to know what monitor you have/are planning to get and what type of games you are looking to play on it. To my inexpert eye, you might need a better PSU and you might be leaving yourself short on memory with only 256GB.

Post above is correct on all counts 🙂👍

If your budget is hovering around the £900 mark you’re probably looking at a build to pair with a 1080p monitor. Here’s a few tweaks I’d make. Ideally I’d up the motherboard, RAM speed and add some extra storage but that will push you a bit over your preferred spend.

Thanks! Yes the monitor I'm thinking of getting is this one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MWLY...olid=3FI95T3IL1BQP&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it).

I'm more than willing to increase my budget a little if you think that would help, you mention increasing RAM speed so is 3200MHz faster than 3600MHz? And the motherboard you recommend I believe is cheaper than the one I chose so is that much better? If it helps for storage I've got a 2TB external HDD to use so not sure if that changes anything

Na, the 3600 RAM is a touch faster which is good for a Ryzen chip, I’d just specced it down slightly to go with your budget.

I’d actually go for a B550 motherboard over B450, those are coming to the end of their lifespan and the B550 would give you the headroom to upgrade your build in future.

An external drive is fine, and adding an internal one to your build is a cheap and easy upgrade you can do yourself if you want at a later date.

Here's my current build: Any opportunities to reduce the price are obviously appreciated but not necessary but don't have much wiggle room for increases maybe £50 extra MAX.

I wouldn't recommend the 5600XT, Nvidia are far more reliable in the GPU department.

I would probably bump up the PSU as the next generation cards are going to want some juice. If you pay for the extra wattage just now it'll save in the long run when it comes to upgrade time :)
