Ordered the beast below for gaming n no streaming or editing.

Comes in a month so i can still change stuff to it

Is this build going to work alright for 1440p 144hz and would the motherboard be good for overclocking?

Any areas where i could have improved? Any tips are greatly appreciated as its my first build

Also if ud wanna be so kind and show me a budget 144hz 14440 monitor screen because what ive seen is so expensive, lol.

many thanks

No worries! These things happen 😁

Riiiiight, I think that the majority of your build looks on point. The case, cooler, graphics card and storage are all good 👍

However (and it’s a big however), most people would currently suggest an AMD CPU over Intel at the moment, which would require you to cancel your order and start again.

If you stick with the Intel platform I’d suggest dropping the thermal paste as the one supplied with the Corsair will be high quality and don’t bother with the extra fans as the case and cooler you’ve chosen should be more than ample. Maybe drop the PSU to the 750, that should be adequate for the build and any further upgrades.

You may also not need 32GB of RAM, 16GB is generally the sweet spot for most gamers. If you play flight sims you may see some benefit but if not, go for 16GB. You could instead increase the speed to the 3600 and still save some money (although you would lose the RGB loveliness).

Thank you, I was aiming to make a full intel build as I had some bad experience with amd overheating in the past

Is there a huge difference between the two if I'd change?

As things stand, AMD are generally regarded to be way ahead of the curve over Intel when it comes to CPUs these days. The more knowledgeable people on this forum will be able to give you an education on why this is (I’ll wait for @SpyderTracks and @Nursemorph to wade in on this one).

I'm stuck with choosing a good case to get the best cooling and air flow for the spec below

Budget would be 200, please share with me your thoughts
Thanks,

Your build does not make sense.
32GB RAM is overkill and wasted unless doing high level video/photo editing and things like CAD, you can count on one hand the number of games that need more than 16Gb, and they all tend to be things like flight sims and also not a requirement, just a nice little boost.
2080 TI is more overkill and a huge waste of money given new GPU's are due in a couple of months, and then to be looking for a cheap monitor to go with it... its like ordering a wagu beef steak and then covering it in tomato sauce.
850W PSU is yet more overkill
The corsair cooler comes with its own paste and is arguably better than the arctic extreme
The 1TB samsung would be far far better as a 1TB Firecuda, samsung is only better than the Firecuda in the 500Gb version.
Intel currently are horrific CPU's compared to AMD, they've had a HUGE falling from grace over the past couple of years.
The motherboard is a dead end.

You are about to throw £2000+ at something that the only thing you can really upgrade is the GPU, and would likely end up having to completely replace in five years or less... which is really not the point of a custom build, and certainly not the point of spending money like that on it either.

Best advice to you is cancel the order, have a proper chat on the forums with some of the mods and experienced users and get a spec put together for your budget. You are currently burning a lot of cash to gain very little from it.

Nurse has given you a much, much better build already (although i would say drop the RAM to 16GB unless you are about to buy MSFS2020)

Thank you for the advice guys,

I've now just cancelled the order..

Having read stuff on the internet and looked upon statistics they do tell that intel would perform better if the main goal is to get best fps in competitive pvp games

But if you guys reckon that this is not the best way to go about it, I will appreciate and take your advice.

Help me once again to build something to run 1440p 144hz and at a good fps rate with good cooling, budget £3000 and would like to include a large wide monitor as well if possible

Many thanks

Regards

Thats great, for some reason the case is not in the selection when i tried looking for it, it seems like it has dissapeared, i really liked the looks as well. Could you suggest another one maybe?

I appreciate that It is actually cheaper than my budget, is there any way I could improve this build to boost my fps in big mmo games ?

Also can I use wifi on it ? I need to stay wi fi for half a year because of something going on in our flat, I know that lan cable is the way to go but i am required to stay on wifi for at least 6 months

Should I grab the 2080 ti ? I really wish to attain maximum performance for gaming.

Thanks for the monitor suggestion, definitely will go for that, its nice and big!

It doesnt have WiFi, you can add it in though (Choose the Intel AX200 for £18, best WiFi card they do and also gives you bluetooth as well)

The 2080 Ti will not give you much in my opinion, i would stick to the 2080 Super (which is already going to go well beyond your needs)
Remember also that new GPU's come out soon, so if you really want absolute best, you can even drop the current GPU choice right down and then get one of the new GPU's in Autumn that will blow current ones out the water (expected 40% improvement which is a huge leap compared to normal)

Case could be they currently have none in stock, you can buy your own and send it in if theres a specific one you want, or wait a little while and see when it comes back (worth emailing PCS to ask if theres a due date)

Yeah, sometimes cases come and go...it might be listed again later today or may be out of stock for a few weeks. As above, you could buy your own and send it in...that case you will pay more for it though as the cheapest I can currently find it is £160 in Currys

2080Ti versus Super: You need the Super to power an Ultraiwde monitor. As I said before though, I'm really not sure beyond that.

Wi-Fi: As said above, just add in the Intel AX200. I left Wi-Fi off as you only had LAN listed in your original spec

Sorry, I wasnt thinking ultrawide, I'm pretty sure ive seen one of the mods say that the Ti would be good for ultrawide (might have been on one of the recent MSFS202 builds in the last week?)

I've decided to buy this here

Only thing id like to get advice on is if i should go for 16 gb 3600 ghz or 32gb 3200ghz.

For some reason it wont let me add 32 gb of 3600mhz rams , but is it possible for me to add another 16 gig later on or is there a reason for this not being available in the selection menu?

Thanks in advance,

I'm think one of the mods has previously told someone to order 16GB of the 3600, then to call up PCS and request that they add a further 16GB in and it was honoured (with an appropriate extra charge, of course).

I've now made some last changes (hopefully) and have a few questions if possible, already placed the order but can still do some modifications..cant wait for the pc to arrive tbh xD

Should I go for the rgb cooler or is the one with fans worth it ? Also how does it work like where do they attach these cpu fans ? Bit confused really cooler and fan i can picture them together

I've changed the case to h500m but im stuck between h500m or the 500d se, do you guys know which one is a better choice if im looking to aim for maximum cooling and longevity or would you recommend anything else ?

Thanks in advance guys @SpyderTracks , @Nursemorph , @Scott , @sibun1 and @AgentCooper , also I'd like to mention that you've been absolutely brilliantly helpful thus far and I will always recommend this forum and mention your names, really extraordinary and fast responses. I'm really pleased with this community, and super grateful that i finally managed to order something after so many days of researching lol

The corsair 500D SE is an excellent case, I have it myself and its genuinely very nice.
Given your build, I would also say its a good fit for whats inside too... I belive its much much better than the coolermaster, and will also give you full fan/RGB control as it comes with a commander pro.

With the cooler, go for the RGB Plat...newer versions and generally better, I have a H100I Plat with a 3800XT, with the 3900XT the H115i Plat is probably the way to go. The fans sit on the radiator for the cooler, in the 500D SE this will normally be fitted to the roof of the case.

Thanks mate, so you reckon I dont need the two silent fans with the h115i ? Just pick up the rgb cooler?

I will change the case definitely, thanks, should I add any extra fans ? Just want to make sure theres a cool breeze in there permanently lol xD

Thanks

I wouldnt buy any extra fans for it right now, you MIGHT want to buy a fan separately (something like a ML120 pro) as a rear exhaust as the 500D SE doesnt come with one.

You will have 3 LL120's and then the ML140 with the cooler, ive found in mine that it deals with temps very well and havent added a rear exhaust (although I am still thinking about one, £20 from Amazon and very easy to fit if you choose to)
