I would like to purchase a pre-built pc solely for the purpose of flightsim. Box only, no peripherals. £1000 budget.

Please hit me with your recommendations.

What monitor would you be pairing it with?

Flight sim is a demanding game so might be quite tough to create a PCS custom PC as component prices are high at present due to COVID and other factors so is their any wiggle room in the budget?

PCS do have 1 next day pre-build left - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers-for-next-day-delivery/1101/ which will run Flight sim but you like all pre-builds isn't ideal

This being a PCS forum we can only offer advice on PCS systems

That would be my Base 1080p Build for Flight sim. It's got room for upgrading if you ever wanted to game at 4k or 1440p in the future all you will need to do is change the GPU to something more beefy. (for flight sim i would also up the ram for playing in higher resolutions)

(ideally would have a bit better GPU in there but options are a bit limited atm)

For the 5600X it's fine, especially when on a budget. I would always recommend a better one where budget allows but it won't be causing any overheating.

Honest suggestion from me would be to save another £300 or so if you’re in no rush. Even if you’re playing at 1080p the tensor cores of an RTX GPU are likely to be a benefit.

Running an entirely SSD Setup can be quite expensive but it is possible, here I've changed the m.2 SSD to a 265gb for windows and your applications then the 1st storage drive is a 1tb SSD for your games and other files. To cut down on cost, I've removed the Thermal pastee, the standard is fine, and used a less expensive case. Brings the total to £1071

Honestly, the PSU for this build would have to be ugraded so making changes is likely to make it more expensive sadly

If you still want an SSD only build, this is probably what I'd recommend, it'll be a good futureproof build with space to upgrade down the line. If you have a windows system already you could save some money by transfering the key but otherwise I wouldn't recommend much cheaper than this

Again, if you're able to wait a few months, I'd highly recommend it. Prices will go down and the amount you can spend will hopefully go up meaning youll be able to get a way better system for your money

You can get away without using the PCIe SSD but the 2.5 inch SATA SSD's will be slower. PCIe SSD has read and write speed of 2000 and 1100 respectively. the 2.5 inch has 500 and 400 respectively. Also these days there is a very minimal price difference between them

You could go for a lower power supply but I feel it's not worth it. If you were to go with a smaller one and wanted to upgrade anything down the line, you'd have to upgrade the PSU too. a new PSU costs about £90-110 for one you'd want. Doing the upgrade now will cost about £20. Short term spending = long term saving. Plus a higher wattage PSU won't have to work as hard so it'll last longer

In essence, you can make these changes, to save a couple £ but I'd strongly advise against it

I believe it launched today and i’ve heard the 2060 super is beating it on performance 🧐
