new news to me - will have a look - currently bogged down in personal admin again
while I'm back in PCS have informed me I can use the game pass on any compatible device as long as I log into the same MS account
also anyone know where I can play some old skool retro games e.g. tekken half-life etc

Half life is always on steam normally pretty cheap

thanks for that. a bit confused now between EA / xbox and steam are they all seperate platforms or do they run on each other? also EA is on a sub can I just try for a month and then cancel? don't want to be tied into a year's sub as I don't generally have a lot of time to play games

They're all separate platforms, although some you can buy through each others platforms.

Think of the game offerings the same was as the video services like Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+, etc.

• Some things are available for renting/purchasing on all services (at different prices)
• Some things are available for free and/or part of your subscription on all services
• Some things are available as a bundle on one service, but not on the others
• Some things are exclusive to one service only

You can stick to one service and limit your choice by only playing their inclusive titles, or you can mix an match between them (which is what most people seem to do) to get the biggest 'bang for their buck'.

For gaming I use (in order of number of games installed/owned):

• Xbox GamePass Ultimate
• Steam
• Epic
• GOG
• Ubisoft Game Store
• Humble
