Gaming computer for DCS World

Hi Guys

Jus a quick update, the computer in being built as we speak and, after much deliberation, I have decided to pair it up with the Asus 42" ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ monitor. I have an ultra wide monitor at the moment (3440 x 1440) but I find in DCS World that static objects tend to have a slight lean to the left or right depending on which side of the monitor its on, hence going back to a flat screen.

Is anyone else running this monitor and any feedback would be good (y)

how can some1 sit looking at a 42 inch monitor? i had a 32 inch and was way to big. 28 inch is barley ok but is comfortably playable.

LOL It's all to do with how close you are. If you put a piece of paper in front of you with a centre line and a 45 degree angle either side, where the 45 degree lines bisect the edge of the monitor that's how far away it should be 👍🏻You can actually set the screen size on this monitor so for work I have it set to a 34" monitor at 3840 x 1600 resolution. I can turn it down to a 27" monitor if needs be. But for gaming it's 42" all the way.

Please tell, how do you change a 42" monitor into a 34" monitor and/or 27" monitor?

Do you mean you can sit closer/further from the screen to replicate these sizes, or that you can make a window on the monitor for these sizes...with big black borders?

It's a feature of the monitor. And yes, you do have to put up with the big black borders. You can shift the screen area up and down so it's not so bad if I align it with my second monitor. The 34" and 27" are wide screen format.

It's like a picture by picture tech but you're just setting one smaller display rather than multiple, I have the same on mine.

I think most current monitors now have picture in picture and picture by picture capabilities, it's quite a valuable tool, especially on ultra/superwide

u play pc on ur 42 inch oled? how far do u sit away from ur monitor would be kinda cringe if u sat 1 arms lengths away 🤣 not a bad setup i spose
4k (xbox series x) on a 28 inch is actually ok i am sitting about an arm lengths away and 1600 resolution for pc fps but 32 inch (with hdr) or higher for 4k be probs best for quality but would need to sit further away to much screen🤣 :( gl

I sit about 800mm from the screen. When I fly in DCS the cockpit looks about full size LOL At least I can see the enemy now! :D

80cm away infront of a 42 inch montior? 🤣 ur eyes be turning sideways bro
I dunno. I've got a 34" flatscreen ultrawide, and I just measured. I sit about 80 cm away.
But, I can see my walls on either side of the screen. I reckon that 42" wouldn't be a problem, it would just reduce the amount of wall. I'd want a curved screen though. I think changing focus, from centre to screen edge, would be very tiring to the eyes with a 42".
Real life is different. I'm a long distance truck driver. I spend all day focusing through a screen, it's not the same as focusing on a screen. If you see what I mean :)
