Gaming night(s)?

I was merrily blasting away on Borderlands 2 last night and it got me to thinking, what would this be like multiplayer co-op. I'd really like to try this out but none of my mates have PC's capable of playing games.

So my question is, who's up for it?

And not only Borderlands but how about an array of multiplayer games on an allotted night. Say Borderlands 2 mondays, BF3 tuesdays, Planetside 2 wednesdays, War Z thursdays etc etc. Then you would know that there's a good chance someone will be playing a game you may be playing on any given night, so you could jump in on some co-op if you fancied it?

Not sure if this has been talked about before and the choice of games/nights is definitely open to suggestions/voting.

What do you reckon? or is this too structured?! :) :surrender:

That sounds pretty cool to me although I only have bf3 on that list so it might be more like BF3 mondays... BF3 tuesdays... BF3 wednesdays... for me :( If I knew people were playing games like Borderlands and War Z I'd definitely be more tempted to invest in them than at the moment where I know they're optimised for playing co-op and as none of my friends have pc's I'm a bit of a loner...

But like you said it could be a little bit too structured. Sometimes people are in different moods to play different games depending on what their day has been like and stuff. Might just be better to get some kind of Vent group going where people can just sign in when they want to and ask everyone what they fancy playing.

You're probably right, no-ones going to want to be funnelled into playing a game on a certain night. Does steam/origin offer group chat/messaging? I have no idea about the capabilities of either of them, I just use them for playing my games.

I've sort of steered clear of BF3 co-op because im crap! I love the game and playing online but all im good for is operation human shield!

I used to be quite handy at it on the xbox, playing it on the pc last night was a whole different story, even though it's the same game I constantly felt like I didn't have a clue what I was doing or what I was meant to be doing.. I know it's on a bigger scale but I just felt complete and utter useless. I decided it was just because I needed to hone my mouse and keyboard skills (spent £1000 on my rig and skimped out spending £22 on my m+k set, good call) so I chose a close quarters map with 48 players on and 2000 tickets and spent a good hour or more (who knows, I was having fun!) just spraying my M4 down corridors and off balconies.

You don't really need to be good on bf3 anyway, doing the objectives is more important!

And back to your point, as far as I know I haven't seen a group chat feature although I am in the PCS Group on steam so whether there's some sort of chat functionality in there I'm not sure. I've used Ventrilo and Skype in the past for all my gaming group conversations but that was back when I was playing MMO's on my laptop and stuff rather than FPS's, etc.

Steam does that anyway (for Steam registered games).

I joined the PCS steam group a while back but never really studied how it works. So can I message anyone in the group or do I have to be a 'friend' to message them. Do you see what games everyone is playing in the group or, again, is this only viewable once your friends?

Sorry for my Q's, proabably basic stuff! :)

As far as I can remember you can see when everyone in the group is online / what they are playing - not sure if you can message them or not though.

I'd be up for a game sesh. I have Boarderlands 2, Battlefeild 3, WarZ and a few others.

I'll definitely look you up on Borderlands, want to check out co-op. Can you jump in and out of co-op/single player campaign keeping your progress do you know, or are they completely separate entities?

No thats were i got lost, i jumped into Co-op and it took me to someone elses point of the story but it is a lot of fun, gets harder the more people playing. You get better items in as well only trouble is you get prople jumping in your game poaching items and leaving again.

Sounds like it could go all 'Momento'!

Ah well, I still fancy it. What's your name on Steam Smoke? Same?

What's planetside like? It looks huge and its free, being the tight git that I am, I'm shocked at myself for not downloading it thus far! :)

it is, maps are absolutely huge and games basically never end, it consists of three continents, you choose a continent when you create your character, so you will stay on the same team every server, but the aim of the game is too control every continent on the map by capturing certain points, it can be a very tactical game and it's brilliant!
