Gaming PC for son

Alright guys,

Hope your all keeping safe.

Anyways after getting some great advice on a gaming pc for myself, I’m back for some help and advice for a gaming pc for the eldest boy.

So he primarily plays open world games, RPG like Skyrim and fallout though every now and again the likes of rainbow six siege.

He has a 1080p monitor, already so will not be part of budget.

The budget is circa £800

You could upgrade the GPU up to around a 3070 level. Normally we’d put in a 750 or 850w to allow for any gpu upgrade down the line, but 3070 is quite a substantial leap on its own.

The motherboard was reduced as well due to budget, would normally put a B550 which is far newer. Even so though, with a BIOS update the board will take 5000 series CPU’s up to the 5800x (at a guess, wait for confirmation).

Aside from that, it’s a pretty strong platform for 1080p around 60-80fps.

Should happily last 7 - 10 years with the normal upgrades.

As above, if you're willing to spend a little extra the 750w PSU paired with the B550 motherboard would be the 2 options I would consider.

The PSU gives you the headroom for the future, the B550, technically, gives you the PCIe4.0 future potential.
