Gaming Rig - TV - Please Help

Hey!

I have had so many headaches, I’ve ordered and cancelled so many times. PC Specalist must hate me, I apologise to them profusely.

I have scoured the forums for months, and so many people have given great advice to others, Scott, Spydertracks, Junior to name some. I probably sound like a broken record with the same questions same answers.

I've twice ordered INTEL, Water cooled system, extreme, and the Liam le version, but, 99% of people say AMD so Intel must be a really bad gaming option. And also water cooled is a little out of date compared to a closed system. So I cancelled and now I’m lost.

INFO

- MONITOR (TV) - LG OLED55CX5LB (2020) OLED HDR 4K Ultra HD - 120Hz

- Gaming after work/weekends, streaming, recording editing in 4k, future proof so ideally I’d like to keep it for future games at max graphics and max Hz for the tv I have.

- Budget is around 5k.

My only worry with the build I put together is the motherboard, would it be better for the Asus CROSSHAIR VIII? GPU, would it be better with a RTX3090? And lastly would it be better to buy everything and build it myself independently, however, I’m not keen on this as I’ve never done it, and I don’t feel confident to do it.

Hopefully you can help me.

Best wishes

James

Ive altered a few things, i'm not sure if you would want/need a streaming card...changed the case due to increased RAM.
PCS dont offer 64GB 3600MHz unfortunately.
Also dropped the CPU down one as the 5950X is less suited to gaming and more very heavy data processing and computational uses

Its a very, very premium build still, and I would say more suited to what youve said you want to do with it.
Ive gone full whack on the warranty too, given whats in it and the pricetag.

This is a fantastic build and was speccing one quite similarly myself. This will be a great build and capable of basically anything you throw at it!

Hey there. 5k is an awesome budget, and it's very easy to want to go overboard and max everything out, but I've tried to stay refined.
With the 5950x you really do want the Crosshair motherboard, the VRMs and chipset cooling is required to handle the 16-core monster.
From a gaming perspective the 3090 isn't neccessary over the 3080, from an editing perspective you might benefit from the extra VRAM. With your budget in place it is also worth at least considering that paying the premium for the 3090 could potentially save you a couple of months in the queue. You can also try and self source a GPU and then take the GPU out of this build which should shorten your wait time. GPUs are fairly easy to install yourself.
64GB of RAM is worth considering, but PCS don't offer that with their 3600mhz sticks, so you can either downgrade to 3200mhz or buy more at a later date, it's a very easy installation, similarly to the GPU.
Adjusted your storage to include a HDD for general storage and upped your boot drive to 500GB. I've downgraded your second m.2 to the Firecuda, you definitely have the budget to keep it as the 980, but you won't have a huge reduction in load times for the extra £100. If you're happy with the diminished returns then by all means keep it in.
Don't need arctic paste as the H115i Platinum comes with premium paste pre-applied.
The AX200 wifi card gives you access to the 5GHz channel and BT support, you don't need to look beyond this for your wireless.

You might want to up the HDD space, perhaps adding another HDD in rather than increasing size of the 2TB already there.
All depends how much space you actually need/how many photos and videos you would be pumping out.
(Barracuda 2TB are actually better than the Ironwolf drives, but drop down from 7200RPM to 5400RPM when you move up to 4TB)

Thank you for your suggestion! That sounds more put together then what I did, also thank you for explaining, the sections, I choose things based on quality but was unsure as to why.

the RTX3090 is what I’m unsure about, I don’t want to get it for the sake of ‘cutting a que on wait times’ I want it to be practical.

If you don’t mind, I’m worrying about the ram, I’ve herd you can get 4000Hz + is that something I need?

Thank you For the reply! Great build you’ve put together a good build, I read that closed watercooled system practically do the same as an open, that’s what I meant, I don’t know if it’s 100% true, but mostly aesthetics. If I’m spending x amount of money I want it to be practical and efficient at what I want it to do. What’s your opinion on the tv working with a 3080 or 3090 as Sibun1 said?

RAM speeds need to be suited to both the board and the CPU, higher speeds arent always better, theres a point at which performance drops.
AMD love fast RAM, and its more complicated than just saying 3200MHz is slower than 3600MHz as the latency rating comes into it, but performance hits its sweet spot at 3733MHz in the 3000 series AMD, then performance drops at speeds higher than that. Not sure what the exact figure is for the 5000 series AMD CPUs which is whats spec'd here, but the same principle applies.

Thank you, Very much appreciated for the help, if I went with the cpu 5900 would the strix be more beneficial then the crosshair?

Not so much beneficial, more a case of having the crosshair wouldnt gain you anything.

Ahh, so it wouldn’t bring anything new to the table. I don’t know if anyone knows the answer, but in terms of future proof when people say go AMD as you can upgrade, will that motherboard work with the new line of AMD CPU’s, hard question, don’t know if ill get an answer

** by new cpus I mean in the next few years cpus not the ones out now *****

The next series is meant to sit happily on a 570X, and strong possibility the one after would to.

I think with Intel the opposite is true, and they are reaching the stage that you would need the next tier of motherboard.
