Thanks for the time Paul, I think... I'm going to just go with it, I've spent 2-3 days trying to work out why the machine isn't matching scores of other folks, and it's arguably a waste of time.

I'm going to reinstall Virtua MVP as simply put... my motherboard supports it, it genuinely improves performance and I therefore might as well. (software was even with the motherboard drivers afterall!)

Anyone know what the chances of SLI are with the jetstream? slim to nothing? or will It be workable? would I need to switch out to water cooling rather than fans etc?

I have seen them SLI:

doesn't look like the 4gb version of the jetstream will SLI all that well in any case tbh, it's just too bulky, you could fit one in (contrary to what my friend told me while I was at work) but you'd only have maybe 1cm between the two cards... really wish I'd not 'upgraded' to the 4GB now. Guess I'll have to keep my eyes on other brands 4GB 680s and then see if PCS can get one ordered for me! (as one of the reasons I went with the sabertooth was so I could SLI eventually).

Thanks again to all of you that gave me a hand in this thread, my next task is to find a 4GB 680 that isn't quite so large - i'm open to suggestions that I can pass on to PCS :)

I have around 1 cm between my cards in SLI and the temps are good (around 26'C and 30'C iddle), you could email them and check if there are any issues with SLI Jetstream but I am sure it should be fine.

I spoke with a chap via their online thing earlier today, he said he wasn't sure, and they don't have any 4GB jetstreams left to check for me, he did confirm that the 4GB one is slightly larger than the 2GB one. The best I can manage is to measure myself and 'guess'. So I think my best option would be to see if they can get me one from a brand other than Palit that is a little smaller.

I can't tell if the gainward one is smaller or not, the EVGA one looks like it might be, but I'm pretty sure that one isn't available in the UK. I'm probably going to leave the second GPU till July after my wedding either way! I want to replace the power supply I got with this machine with an 850watt modular one (I'd actually intended to amend the order the day I saw it had rocketed through building and was in QA lol - figured I'd just get the different PSU at a later date and have a handy PSU for when I make my fiances next machine)

These are the only other 4GB 680s currently on the market:
EVGA (I'd lose its faster clocks etc, but they're considered the best usually right?)

Gainward (I actually think this one might be the same size as the jetstream, or at least close to it, hard to tell?

go for one thats designed like the evga card, then slot that one in the top slot, then slot the jetstream in the lower slot :) Job done :)

then add a ton of case fans!

Thanks again Tom, you've confirmed the theory I had! as the top card usually runs hotter (right?) having the EVGA which will technically be under clocked at the top makes even more sense I think?

Now I just need to know when such a card will be available in the UK... Then hope that the nice chaps at PCS can get me one (as I'd prefer to purchase stuff like GFX cards from them than someone else - I did purchase the final two case fans my case can take today though! :D)

well try and get the cards with the same clock speeds, the higher clocked card will drop to match the lower.

I think two jet streams will fit just, it looks like they will, but unless you have three screens dont bother adding another just yet.

WHen ya do, I'd cable tie a fan onto the back of the hard drive bays to blow air between the two cards. (if that makes sense)

It does, one of the fans I just got is a front fan for the case too, so I could set that to 'suck' in the air and then have the cable tied one set to blow that air between the cards.

I know the EVGA would get under clocked, but considering it works out at just over £500 for one, it's not massively different in price to the jet stream, and I'm betting that bit of extra space will be extremely helpful...

p.s. Will be getting a monitor or two as wedding gift from the wife to be hopefully!

Yes this is what i have done with my 580s - reference in the top & gainward in the bottom (the gainward you were looking at is basically the 680 version of the one i have , its 2 & a half slot card)

Should give you at leased an inch between the cards , plenty of room for air - but when you game the top card will be considerably hotter than the bottom card - reference always are hotter , but as long as it doesn't go over 85c you will be fine (shouldn't get that hot though being 680s are cooler than 580s)

But things will get hot regardless , so if you can get a side fan in the case this will help greatly
