Ghost Elite vs Pulsar Elite

Hey all,

I am looking at two gaming rigs because I want a powerful gaming set up now which won't cost the earth, but I also want it to be upgrade-able and futureproofed.

They are:
Pulsar Elite: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/view/Pulsar-Elite/
and
Ghost Elite: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/view/Ghost-Elite/

They are only £20 apart in terms of cost, but seem to take totally different approaches, with the Pulsar being focused on CPU and SSD, while the Ghost being GPU.

The 4070 in the Ghost appeals, and I'd swap the SSD for a 2TB and get rid of the HDD to bring down cost.

Would the Ghost make more sense? Or is the 4060ti in the Pulsar easily powerful enough? It seems in benchmark tests that the 4070 is a big upgrade, but then is it being bottlenecked by the CPU in the Ghost's set up?

Are there ways to bring the cost of one of those down while still getting a 4070 in it?

Thanks for your advice and time!

What is really best is an all round balanced machine. No CPU heavy or GPU heavy where one ends up throttling the other etc.

If you have a read here

Then answer the three main questions re budget, monitor and use (if gaming let us know what games) then I’m sure someone can help with a much balanced and future proofed/upgradeable machine than some of the pre-built items.

Sorry yep, you're right! I am changing my monitor and was looking at the Tuf gaming one from ASUS as it seems well reviewed. My budget here is preferably under 300. I have also seen the curved monitors around that price point on eBay - I've played on some before (but were expensive) and they were awesome. I can't see too much of an issue with buying second hand but maybe I'm being naive!

In terms of the build, it'd be gaming only - not streaming or anything else. I'd be playing a range from things like cyberpunk, through diablo and overwatch, to games like total war too. So for me it's about trying to run games on high graphical settings but hanging on to a high frame rate. I'm trying to keep the cost under 1300 for the build but I can be a bit flexible if it's going to make a decent difference.

Or would there be a way of delivering similar levels of performance at under 1200? If so, would a 1440p monitor suffice as I'm guessing 4k would likely be out of the question? Thanks for your time.

Hi there, I've been told to bounce this thread but I don't really understand what that means. I'm just trying to get some advice on a build but feel like I've put this in the wrong place?

1200 would get you a half decent 1080p system, you wouldn't be able to push 1440p at current prices (mainly GPU costs).

£300 for monitor and £1200 for PC?

Got it, so for 1440p it'd be more like 1500?

I think so, as I was looking around there seemed to be quite a lot of 27" 1440p monitors for this price or less.

No, you would need a higher budget to be able to get 1440p, say 1500 just for the PC then monitor on top.

This is a decent 1080p system:
