Unless your speakers are really good I dont think you would need a sound card at all, onboard one is good enough for 99% of people out there.

I have used both on board and a sound card with my tritton ax pro's, the sound card is defo alot better, sharper and clearer with the sound card. I'd well go for the 20quid asus sound card, even if your only using two speakers.
