Good desk and chair for PC

Hey guys - awaiting for my new PC to arrive. Given the stock issues around the 3060ti and 5600x I'd imagine i've got a good 4weeks+ to find it a nice new place to sit in my flat.

I'm a long time console gamer so, I'm having to buy pretty much everything for the PC.. not least a desk and chair. Gonna be using it mostly for gaming, ideally something that doesn't take up a whole lot of room.

Any recommendations or even good sites to visit for this? Budget circa £200 for both desk and chair.

Wayfair usually has a good selection of furniture...I looked at quite a few desks on there when I bought mine, though I ended up getting it elsewhere. Beyond that, there's the usual Amazon, IKEA etc. Desk really depends what you need from it...the size of it (depends on the monitor etc..my desk needed to accommodate 2 32" screens and, in the end, now accommodates a 32 " screen and a 55" TV), whether it needs drawers, shelves etc.

Chair: Agaiun, depends what you need. Most people would recommend something with a mesh back. Beyond that, does it need to be height adjustable? size? things like that.

Good point. For me to be fair, chances are i'll be accommodating just the one screen at 27" - probably look at something with a little more depth to it though to make it easier on the eyes.

Wayfair stuff is pretty good, although from memory can be a little pricy! Ideally you'd have the PC unit off the ground right and on the table?

Honestly...Just make your own desk. By a pair of Ikea drawers and a counter top. They are pretty good and should be under you £200 budget.

I would also recommend IKEA, no nonsense, cheap and looks great, can't recommend them enough.

I've got this one in Black, comes in various depths / lengths, I chose not very deep as I have the monitors on an arm mounted on the desk so no space lost with a stand. It's perfect for me.

There's also the MALM which is also very nice:

That Micke looks pretty smart in black.

Agree with the above though, might not be deep enough especially with a curved monitor.

If you go with my idea, you can literally choose length + depth of the top. I personally went for something like this..except 180cm so no need for the middle leg support.

For a chair think outside of the box, I have been having issues with my legs/lower back for over 2 years now and have been using various Gaming chairs. Then I got a wheel chair with solid tires, a basic folding wheel chair you can get second hand easily for £100 mark. Since I got it my 2 gaming/office chairs I spent way too much on have gone to charity shops.
They are designed to be used for hours on end at the fraction of the cost of say a Herman miller which retails at £430 for cheapest too £1-2k for the best. Only down side is making sure your table has enough room under it for you and the chair

(EDIT - apologies - I see SpyderTracks already mentioned the monitor arm idea already - my bad  )

Another thing to think about also:

I am trying to sort out my PC space - which is tiny - I'm getting the MICKE desk from IKEA but the 73cm wide one. To recover some of the depth I am getting a monitor mount which will help keep everything neat and tidy - although my existing monitor is non-VESA so I have to get a non-VESA converter also.

The mount I'm getting is this one: Upright Mount but was looking at this one also: Arm Mount - both of which can be bolted onto the desk directly rather than using the clamp which is my plan.

Duronic do a good selection of well reviewed mounts also - but I couldn't find any way to get their stuff to me here in Ireland. The only shipping option I could find was just a little too expensive for my tastes.....

Wheeled chairs get annoying when you hit the brakes hard on your gaming pedals and end up on the other side of the room, so make sure the wheels have locks/brakes - voice of experience speaking.....

I don't think Gus means a office chair with wheels - I'm reading it as recommending a wheelchair (for invalids).

If so, I'm not sure my father would agree with him, as he's happy to spend all day on his Ikea office chair, or 4 hours in a car seat, but can't help but fidget in his wheelchair when we have to push him - and he's forever replacing the base/cushion to find something more comfortable.

Ah good Lord sorry Tony and Gus.

Advice probably still valid for either wheeled version though I guess!

Spending hours over the past week or two looking at reviews on all aspects of PC related stuff - I stumbled on Gamers Nexus comparison of Office and Gamers chairs:

Office vs Gamers

As always his videos are madly detailed - and long - so just skip to conclusion if you prefer. He's not bashing Gamers chairs, juts making the point that the right chair for you is the one that supports you the way you need it to. Just paying big money for a chair doesn't guarantee anything.

I also think his mention of core conditioning is relevant too - so many of us suffer from aches and pains due to bad posture which has core condition at it's roots.....
