GPU question

Hi All
I placed an order on PCS (details attached below) early Jan and was just informed that the stock issues with 3080 will persist for a lot of time potentially. The 6900XT seems to be better in terms of availability. Would you recommend switching to this? Or should I be considering a different alternative? The plan is to pair it up with a Samsung G9 (1440p Superwide) and use for games like Control, Cyberpunk, Watchdogs, WoW etc. as well as some machine learning potentially.

I would honestly just wait mate, the 6900XT is a powerful card but they are nothing compared to Nvidia's offerings at the minute. Patience would serve you best in this case

I’d hold out for the 3080, i’ve seen it briefly come into stock at retailers over the last two weeks, which happened with the 3070 and now 3070 stock is pretty good.

AMD tend to have a lot more driver issues and of all the AMD cards, i think the 6900XT is the least nvidia competitive

Sign up to stock informer alerts for the 3080, I’ve been able to secure a couple into basket and get through to the payment screen, but haven’t proceeded as the cards have always been more expensive ones nearer the £1000 mark and would only get £650 back if I remove it from my order, so not willing to pay the almost £400 difference, (I’m also nearing the 80 day mark so my build is near the top of the “queue” for the 3080) but for newer order I’ve just looked and 3080 is coming out at £853 so paying £900 wouldn’t be all that bad for one.

Yeah the discord they’ve got is good, enable notifications and you should be able to bag one easily, as long as it’s not Currys as they’re sold out before you even get the notification, probably being bought by bots as the cards tend to be around the £700-£800 mark which is the cheapest I’ve seen for them so far.

Mine was from there. £600. Used the app and had all the address etc pre filled, then iphone autofilled out card details.
