Have i made an awfull decision?! Can it be saved?

I just need a little advice or reassurance see build below:
I was debating on weather to build my own or buy prebuild, due to work being so busy and gpus being overpriced at the moment prebuild was the way to go, after configuring different builds I came to the one below, but I've since read awful reviews on the case (nzxt h511) and now I'm concerned my gpu and cpu and gunna over heat and the build will muck right up!!!
I really like the look of the case but not enough to ruin the pc!


Will PCS let me change my case now that I've submitted the order ? Or will this case be alrighy for the gpu and cpu I've chosen??

Any help or advice will be much appreciated!

Once the order has gone into pre-production, you can edit until your hearts content (so you'd be able to change the case). Although, that said there are other parts I'd change with this build, primarilly the CPU choice. At time of writing, Intel is quite a way behind AMD who are just on top of the game right now. I'd recommend a read of this article if you're interested in as to why. 12th gen is due out soon, but could potentially be unbeliavbly expensive in comparison.

If you let us know your budget, uses and monitor info (make and model or resolution and refresh rate) we'd be happy to spec you up an AMD build that's right for you. As you've already ordered, you'll then need to contact PCS with the quote and request to switch over, if they don't allow that (which sometimes happens) I'd recommend a cancel and re-order. It'll set you back a few days, but the PC will be much better as a result

That advice about Intel being easier to upgrade is actually the complete opposite. AMD support their sockets much much better than Intel ever have

Now the 10600K isn't terrible, it's a fairly solid option. It's just there are much better options in the same price range. It's not a build killer but it's not ideal either

As for the case yeah it's pretty terrible. You can however get an airflow front panel for it that should solve a lot of the problems with the case. These are fairly in demand though so they can be hard to get a hold of. This would be a fairly cheap solution to your problem of the case but to be honest I'd recommend cancelling and starting again with an AMD build. I'd also go for a better PSU and likely change your storage set up

That's fair enough. It's always worth asking. I'm sure if you call up and explained the situation they'd make the best of it for you. PCS have brilliant customer service so hopefully they'd be able to get it sorted

Once the order goes into pre-production you will be able to change your case, you'll just have to pay for the change upfront as you've done finance (there's no fee, just the price difference between the two products). If you were to change the case after reciving the build, that would indeed void your warranty, including unauthorised changes to the CPU, motherboard and BIOS. Everything else would be fine though

Intel is generally less expensive, but they generally don't perform quite as well either. For physically changing parts, it's pretty much identical, an AMD build isn't any more difficult than an intel build to build. However for compatibility of new parts I'd say it's the opposite. Intel change their chipsets about every 15 minutes (sarcasm, but they change them incredibly often) meaning parts aren't compatible for as long as an AMD build is. Plus there's the whole locked vs unlocked sku CPU and motherboard situation is mind boggling to a beginner I feel.

I'd recommend contacting PCS and explaining and requesting to switch over. If they allow, brilliant, we can then work with an AMD spec. If not, and you really don't want to cancel, as @Steveyg has said, the 10600K isn't a bad CPU, we can work with what we have to get you the best for your money!

The rig is going to be used for gaming and maybe some light editing, so mostly games like halo infite battlefield and indie games. It's basically instead of me buying a series x. I've ordered a fairly cheap monitor with it aswell (MSI 27" Optix G27C6 - 1920 x 1080, 1MS, 165Hz) moving up from an old monitor + TV. I like the thought of 1440p and 1080p but also like fairly high fps.


I'll give PCS a call when I get a chance and see if they would let me change a few things or just the case. It's a bloody shame because the case is minimalistic and the look I was after! Any other case you'd recommend similar sort of price range or maybe with in £40 of it?

One last question if it's impossible to change my order will the case damage the components I have chosen or just generally muck up the overall usage of the rig?

If you post the configuration link we can suggest changes. I'd actually recommend the Corsair 4000D airflow which is a cheaper and much much better case. I also think it looks great

Bad new though I believe though I could be wrong that the 12th gen Intel chips will be using a different chipset to the 10th gen meaning you would need another motherboard too

Changing to 12th gen would void your warranty as you'd need to change the CPU and motherboard. If you were to change those two, I'd wait for the next gen of ryzen which I'm sure will then surpass Intel again

For the 3060TI I'd really recommend a 1440p monitor, 1080p would be wasted on such a powerful GPU. I run a 3060TI and a 1440p monitor and never had any issues with FPS. Alternatively, switch down to the 2060, a perfectly capable card for 1080p

You'd only need to call PCS if you want to switch to AMD (which I'd still recommend, it's worth a try). Aside from that everything else can be changed online in your account. It'd be good to go over the full spec as there's a number of things I'd recommend changing, although worth waiting until we know what PCS has said so we know what we're working with. Case wise, the 4000D airflow and Lian Li 215 are both great high airflow options

You won't specifically do any damage, but there's ways you're leaving performance on the table and not going for an optimal setup. But again, probably worth a whole spec re-jig

If I try to reconfigure my build or change anything from my order it says I'll be reentered into a waiting list as the 3060ti is now pre order only ( it wasn't when I placed my order)

Does this mean I am stuck with my original build unless I want to wait silly times for the 3060ti to come back in stock?

I mean I was down for waiting the normal 30-40 days but longer than that will be unbareable! And I'll miss the release date of the main game I want to play on it (sounds silly I know) The pcs customer service rep said he doesn't see any issue with wait times with my order 14-17 days lead time. (this was before I looked at changing my build)

They do build times based on original order date instead of last amendment date. Fingers crossed!

Instead of the corsair 4000d airflow what do you guys think of the Cosair ICUE 220t RGB airflow?? With this one I wouldn't have to purchase extra fans as I would with the 4000d pushing up the price ?

Instead of the corsair 4000d airflow what do you guys think of the Cosair ICUE 220t RGB airflow?? With this one I wouldn't have to purchase extra fans as I would with the 4000d pushing up the price ?

You wouldn't need to with the 4000D, it'd just benefit if you did, plus the AIO in the build would add 2 anyway. The 220T is a great case, but is quite small so could limit future upgradability, if you went for it I'd recommend the non RGB RAM so the AIO can be top mounted. You could also look at the Lian Li 215, Lancool II and Cooler Master TD500 mesh which are more normal sized cases

Would there be an issue if the aio wasn't top mounted on the 220t? Along as the pump isn't higher than the top of the rad isn't it OK?,surley they would move the front fans on top as the aio will replace them being side mounted? I know its just for looks but I'd hate to remove the rgb ram! Either way it's between the 400d then adding more fans later or the 220t and not missing out on those extra rgb fans!
