Help a Brother Out - Build advice

Guys I have a quick question and hopefully you can help me out. My build is a 5800x - 3080, should I consider changing to a 5900x or is it not really worth it? I've had a look around to see what others have been saying, but I'm still not sure. Many thanks 🙏

Also your boy is almost halfway through, slowly but surely getting there 😅

Post a thread with your build details in the check this spec section and we’ll let you know. Details we want to know: budget, what you’ll be using the system for, and what monitor will you be pairing with it. Make and model or resolution and refresh rate. Without all that info we’re not in a place to offer sound advice 🙂👍

Hi Rob, have moved to own thread for spec advice

If you can post your current specs, what you’re using it for and what monitor (make and model) you’re pairing it with plus max budget then we can offer advice:

Thank you for that and also sorry for posting it in the wrong section initially 😅🙈 I will shortly post in the right one 😁

Hi everyone,

So this is my current build and I'm contemplating if I should change the 5800x for the 5900x or not 🤔 also if there is anything else that you guys would change.

The monitor that I'm probably going for will be a 4k one, something along the £300-£400 mark.

I will most likely be using the pc for video/photo editing (Photoshop/lightroom/premiere pro etc) and for gaming of course.

Budget: £2300 - £2500

Let me know what you think 🙏

i'd suggest you take a read of this, and you wont get a 4k monitor worth its salt for that price, maybe double

Hi there,
This is a pretty good start, but could do with some adjustment?
What is your budget?
What are you going to be using the PC for? E.g Gaming, Streaming, Editing, Rendering etc
You’re probably looking at closer to £800 for a monitor that makes full use of the 3080.
Please could you include the config link.

Well I've already ordered the pc about 45 days ago, oh the wait for the 3080, but I'm thinking if there are any changes that I should make or not.

As for the monitor, I really want to go for a 4k one but most of the ones that are within budget are at 60hz.

Please keep your questions to one thread, it makes it easier for people advising you to see the history.
Still need budget and use cases from you. If it’s for gaming a 3070 will be a much better fit for 4k60hz, you’re spending extra and waiting much longer for a 3080 paired with a monitor that will bottleneck performance.

So the budget will probably be around £2300

Also what monitor would you recommend then for the current build that's not too expensive 😅

Thank you for posting this, great info there. I think I will have to increase my budget for the monitor 😅.
