HELP - monitor not displaying

Hi, first time user! i ordered up a machine from PCS for my daughter (on her recommendation!) and arrived yesterday! As I’m not PC savvy really, it was ordered up fully built, so assumed it would be plug and play! Plugged existing Samsung monitor in with hdmi (there is only one hdmi port on back of machine), screen moves between anolog and hdmi 4-5 times then switches off? You dont hear any beeps when machine is powered up?

Also, existing keyboard and mouse have usb connections and don’t power up from any USB’s on machine. Assume this will be overcome by purchasing adapters to allow connection to ‘standard’ coloured ports for keyboard and mouse on machine.

Ive messaged PCS twice, but based on what I’ve read on some other posts, I’m not expecting a response any time soon! I’m giving it to the weekend and if I can’t get it working through assistance from PCS or you kind folks on the forums, it will be going back under the 14 day return policy for a full refund.

Ive got an extremely upset daughter at the moment!!!!!

Ok check in the menu on the monitor for what display source it's set to, if it's on auto then set it to HDMI and let us know what happens

Do note that e-mail responses are taking upto a week because PCS are really really busy at the moment (stock shortages are causing all kinds of hassle)
Calling them will be much much faster - though I believe there are hefty queues on the phone but as long as you don't call too late you should be able to get through to them

Thanks for the replies so far. I’ve tried another monitor, but get nothing at all on the screen - stays black! I’ve opened the case and checked all the connections - everything appears to be in place! I didn’t unpack the machine, but my daughter assures me there was no foam packaging inside the case.

My PC arrived on Wed, with no GPU and that didn't have any packing inside, so maybe they only put packing on the inside when there is a GPU in there to stop it moving... If you had packing in there, you couldn't take that photo - it would look like someone has shoved a pillow in the machine around the GPU to stop it moving.

On the back of your machine you have 3 monitor connections:

#1 = VGA
#2 = DVI
#3 = HDMI

What connections do you have on the back of your Monitor?

I would suggest (cable permitting) you try the other connections if possible. Be sure that in between doing each one you switch off the PC, change the cable, then switch on again.

Can I ask, based on the photo and spec supplied, is everything there that should be? Sorry to ask, but I just don’t know!

ive tried hdmi and vga (don’t have dvi cable) and set the monitor to the same, but still nothing! Also, the adapters for usb connection for the mouse and keyboard arrived, but they still don’t work even through the correct coloured ports!!!!

still no beep(s) when machine is switched on!

It doesn't sound like it's posting in the first instance if the USB's aren't activating.

Take it thats something that PCS will have to fix? To be honest, my daughter is just annoyed with it now and wants it sent back to get her refund!

Thanks for all the replies.

I phoned tech support this morning at 9am and was 10th in the queue. 1hr 40 mins later I finally got through and was asked to do exactly the same as what NURSEMORPH suggested. Sent various photos by email during the call - still didn't work!!!!!

PCS have agreed to uplift on Monday for repair. Bit disappointing, but I suppose these things happen!

Take the collection date with a grain of salt, mine was 3 days ago and still no confirmations or times from DPD.

That's potentially an issue on DPD's end, perhaps a lack of drivers in your local area or something like that. I requested an RMA on Wednesday and it's due to be picked up in the next hour. PCS confirmed it yesterday and I got the DPD emails a little while after.

I did ask PCS about the spec and advised it would be ok for most gaming but not really for the high end stuff! My daughters not into these, what ever they are (as you can tell I’m not a gamer in any way!) so felt it would be ok.
