Help with combined USB C power and display out

Hi,

Below is a spec I recently purchased from PC Specialist. It has a combined USB C DC-In and display out port. I purchased a USB C splitter which had a power port included, but it will not charge and display to an external monitor at the same time, only one or the other.

If anyone could point me to a cable/dongle which would allow charging and display out at the same time from the USB C port, it would be appreciated :).

Not sure if it would work (I don't own one so can't test it myself) but PCS do offer a dongle - might be worth asking if it allows for simultaneous display out and power (although the display is HDMI) - although it looks like it does/should?

Failing that, there look to be a few USB-C docks available on Amazon which appear to do the trick (although admittedly, I'm sure you've already checked those out!).

Thanks Steaky. I had already spoken to a PCS support guy on the phone and whilst he suggested the port could do DC in and display out at the same time, he could not suggest a dongle which could support it.

The splitter I've already tried didn't do the trick so it looks like I've got to do a bit of dongle roulette to find out if anything works 😅

As above, try the one from PCS.

I'm not sure the one from PCS will work if its only HDMI out - we had someone on here a few weeks back that had issues using USB-C to HDMI and it wasnt displaying - we promptly told him it was because it only supported USB-C to DP and he needed that type cable not to HDMI.

Still though if you can spare the time and it can be returned afterwards there is no harm in trying :D

My only suggestion would be is what Steaky already mentioned and that is an actual docking station - maybe something like this one:
