How's this 3090/5950x rig?

Purpose of rig:
- 3D CGI Rendering (GPU Renderers)
- 4k video production (AE, PP, Resolve)
- VR Gaming
- Regular Gaming

I've already placed the order (to get the ball rolling on the 3090!) and I've also already switched it from a B550 mobo to a 570F one after seeing that was recommended for such CPU. But otherwise is the rig OK?

You would need to significantly up the specs I'm afraid to make it viable.

You'd need a far better case, if you wanted sound isolation, then the Fractal Define R6

For that CPU you'd need the Hero motherboard for best performance, otherwise you'd miss out on the potential boost clocks.

You'd also need a minimum of an 850W RMx PSU, but I'd suggest a 1000w

You'd also need a minimum of an H115i capellix cooler.

Drop the increased thermal paste as the cooler comes pre applied with better paste anyway.

Up the wifi card as that one is over 12 years old now and doesn't support modern standards.

Thanks! I've just amended my order to match your suggestions.
The only other thing I'd mention, not as something that needs changing, more giving some info.

You've selected a Gen 3 M2 SSD, if it were me, I'd up it to the Samsung 980 pro which is gen 4 and capable of double the speeds for not much more money.

I'm considering swapping out the 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 16GB) with 64GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3600MHz (2 x 32GB). Its not listed as an option in the upgrade form, but I've contacted them to see if they can.

Would you recommend that? I'm considering it so that I can then grow to 128gb in the future by only getting 2 more sticks rather than having to replace them all. Is there any issue with that?

Might not be a bad idea, rendering can chew up massive amounts of memory and whilst you could configure an SSD as a scratch disk for memory overflow, it’ll never replace the real thing. Although I’d be more inclined to go for 2x32GB 3200MHz as there’s been some stability issues with the higher frequency RAM.

If PCS are unable to provide it, you could amend your order to have just one cheapo stick and then source and install yourself 👍

OK, so I've changed it to a 4gb stick (so I can buy the ones I want seperately, thanks for the suggestion AgentCooper).

I've also upgraded the m.2 to the 980 Pro as recommended further up (and also upped it to the 2tb version). So I've now made all suggested changes lol

In terms of getting the ram, is there any performance difference between the vengeance types, LPX, RGB Pro etc?

I'll be going 64gb (2x32gb) 3200Mhz, and I'm not bothered about RGB, so just want to make sure the LPX version will be fine?
