I am looking for a valid "promo code" to add to my custom Laptop build order

I am on the verge of ordering a new custom Laptop build costing in excess of £3000. I saw during the ordering process that I can add a "promo code" to ease the cost a bit. However, I have spent many hours trawling the interweb but I cannot find a valid "promo code" anywhere. Does anyone know of a valid "promo code" I could use?

I'm in the same situation as well :( also look for one myself.

But I think those codes are for people who have ordered stuff before / previously and therefore they are getting discounts for the next buy.

I fear you may be right! But at £3000+, I will not be making more than one order any time soon!

I'm not very familiar with PCS's promo codes but the last time I looked they were for like £15 off, and you found them in printed magazines.

And one year I think they did a Black Friday promo code for a small discount.

it's not like some stores where having a promo code is almost a default (arguably in order to make the price competitive).

I'd suggest posting the spec for feedback, as people can suggest savings/improvements. Sometimes faster RAM is cheaper than slower RAM, sometimes a faster SSD is cheaper than a slower one...

If the only promos were for less than £50, then I may not bother; I was hoping for something more like 10% of the build cost.

I am quite happy with my build configuration, but equally, I appreciate any help offered, so here it is:

What's the system being used for?

As above some stores rely on promo codes to make customers feel like they are getting a special, exclusive deal whereas actually all the code does is bring the price into line with other stores. If you can find the same cheaper elsewhere though then do give PCS a call and see if they can help out with that 🙂

Last time i tried a promo code with PCS they asked me to verify/prove the source of the promo code. They do actually have some promotion codes but they are only listed in subscription magazines such as computer active. They will only honour it if they can verify that you are in genuine receipt of the promotion code and have not leached it from a leaked website.

Hi GGABU

Unfortunately promo's aren't my area, but please feel free to check out the challenge pcspecialist page.

Thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated. However, the "price challenge" is not really what I was looking for. I do believe PCS are competitive on price compared to others of an equal standard; i.e. we will always find "cheaper" for a lower standard build.

As I mentioed in my original post, PCS have a "promo code" field in their order form, so I am curious how this works i..e how/where can I find such a "promo code". Unless of course, the "price challenge" is the same thing i.e. only if I find the exact same build elsewhere do I then get a "promo code"!?!

I think this just about sums it up, and so yes, I will just go ahead with my order. It'll just be my luck, I get a "promo code" after paying full price for my build!

Other than the magazine the only time i have ever seen a promo code with pcs is on black friday and its usually only about £15 anyway so if you are not in a rush and want to save £15 then knock yourself out, but then who is to say the price of the system has not gone up by that time anyway and you might end up only breaking even still anyway haha

Not sure if you said what the laptop is for but if it's gaming and no video editing (for example) 32gb RAM is a waste vs 16gb and the storage setup isn't optimal for value or performance either.

Well to end this thread where it started...I emailed PCS asking if they would offer a promo code for a first order from a new customer, and although they did not send me a specific code, my order miraculously reduced in price by £15 overnight. So, a little persistence and patience goes a long way. Thanks for your replies. I am now in the process of completing my order :)

No promo codes are given out after purchasing a computer as far as i can tell.

And as mentioned above, waiting to get one will probably just mean your computer costs more with price changes anyway.
I delayed ordering my laptop for a few weeks and have seen the price increase by about 30 euros

It was probably just fluctuations in the price of some components and not PCS actively discounting your order (unless you had already ordered)
