hmm I'm also in favour of PC gaming rather than console, but truth is that a proper gaming PC cost fortune, to put it other way: a decent graphics card alone cost more than xbox 360, so there you go :(
Am I sorry? to invest money in my PC, hell no... it's just the way it is .. you just keep investing and try not to think much about it ^^

Pc games are cheaper, levelling it out a bit

Hi guys.
I'm in the process of building a very decent gaming pc on this site.
It's going to cost about £1k.

The main reason Is I'm getting a bit bored of the age-ing graphics of the Xbox360.
I'm sure many of you people had the same idea and have already built and ordered your PC.

what i want to know Is, Is anyone sorry they did as they feel they ended up wasting their money. for example alot of games are just poor ports of the consoles ?

No.

If anything, I wish I had spend more money :p if PC Specialist had a 'come to your house and upgrade your pc then and there' service, I would totally make use of it.

I get fed up of console games... FPS games on a console sucks also. I have yet to find anyone to be quicker or as quick on a traditional gamepad over a keyboard and mouse. I have a PS3 and it only gets turned on to watch Blurays...

Consoles are good for some games, they're not all bad. In general console games are short, fast paced and with little replayability (lack of modding capabilities). Some games though, like driving games or Final Fantasy games are fine. I suppose it'd be worth having a console as backup for if the PC ever had to be sent away for repairs, or if you had to wait for new parts for a few days, with a few driving games at the ready.

My backups are: Gamecube (Resident Evil 1 remake, Resident Evil 3)
PS1: Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9, Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter, Silent Hill.

It's kind of academic though because now I've bought a new PC (in my sig) I have my old PC as backup. So if the new one had to be sent away and the old one broke as well, then the above consoles would be my backup. Or, the backup of my backup.

But speed isnt key, speed relative to everyone else in the game is. Hence why they dont put pc vs ps3 and xbox. I dont see why speed has anything to do with the argument that PC is better. If you had a game where pc and ps3 servers were one and the same and PC players always won because of the advantage then Id agree that PC would in that case be better, fortunately that isnt the case.

Consoles are brilliant for sitting down relaxing on your sofa, playing split screen games with ur mates etc. I would want to play split screen games on my pc with my mates crowded around a desk, however having a group of friends round and playing ps3 or xbox is good fun.

I leave PC playing to purely online and single player games, yet i still go back to using controller for racing games etc and graphically PC racing games just arent as good as consoles. F1 2010 being the exception, but GT5 beats the F1 2010 PC graphics hands down.

I find it is frustrating that it takes far longer than it should to do something that is reactionary. I've played games like CoD on both PC & PS3 and you get killed an awful lot more through lucky spraying of bullets on a PS3 than on a PC. I just hate that lack of input. Now games like Final Fantasy, racing games, Grand Theft Auto etc consoles are fine (although GTA4 was at times a pain). I do like my PS3 and I still play it occasionally, but a PC feels more natural to me. Plus the online community is generally better.
