Is now a good time to buy a PC or should I wait?

Like the title says, I was wondering if now is a good time to buy/build a PC or whether I should wait. I would also like a bit of feedback on the potential rig I'm looking at. My budget is around £1500 and I want something that will hold up for the next 4-5 years of gaming with the opportunity to upgrade in the future. I've done a bit of research and have put this together for my budget.

We can always suggest options from PCS's range for you to consider alongside any other shopping options of course

In which case, my advice would be to wait 1 month. AMD's Zen 2 CPUs are coming out on 7th July. As well as the potential very interesting performance vs pricing, it will also come with X570 motherboards bringing PCIe 4.0.

For £1500, and assuming gaming, I'd expect to see a better GPU than a 1660 ti, assuming this is for gaming or other GPU-dependent activities. The motherboard and CPU are likely not the best value / balance for the build.

We'd also need to know what the PC was being used for, and if for gaming what monitor (refresh rate and resolution) was being used.

PCS don't sell MSI graphics cards or Seasonic PSUs, so wherever you came up with that spec, it was not on this website

Just wait 1 month and then check again to see what the situation is I think. PCIe (peripheral component interconnect express) is basically the pathway that links components together in your PC, like a network of roads. PCIe 4.0 has twice the bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 (the current standard). This allows for faster SSDs, and may help support faster future graphics cards.

I'll probably have a bout £300 for a monitor. Would you recommend AMD over intel then?

Did you get an error that said something like "Oops! We ran into some problems?"

A few people have reported problems posting various things on the forums lately, so just checking if this is another instance of the same.

Would you recommend AMD over intel then?

Tentatively, yes.

If you were buying today, I'd recommend an AMD Ryzen R5 2600x based spec and a 1440p 144hz monitor, maybe with an RTX 2060 GPU. Something in that ballpark anyway.

A 1440p 144hz monitor will often be a bit more than £300, but you can always save a little cash on the PC to help fund the monitor - e.g. splitting it £1400/£400 instead of £1500/£300.

But if it's not an urgent purchase, an R5 3600x + X570 motherboard etc in July could make the system a bit more futureproof and give a bit better performance in games. It will be interesting to read reviews of the parts, and see final pricing when they are out (there will be cheaper options than Intel i7s, we know that much)
